I got to thinking that up until now I guess I just assumed everyone had RNY here lol but ya know thats simply not true.. Or is it?? What surgery did you have? Why did you choose that surgery type? Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? Hope everyone is having a SUPER day! *huggles* Felicia =0)

What surgery did you have? LAP RNY Why did you choose that surgery type? I never actually even considered anything else as I wanted permanent without the "thing" inside me. (also my only 2 options here were lap band and RNY) Its hard enough at times to wrap my brain around the fact that my tummy is now in 2 parts let alone trying to deal with something implanted in me. Silly I know lol. Ok and the idea of having a needle stuck in my belly every so often for fills was a NO GO for me too lol. I liked the long term factor of RNY. I liked the 'side effects' of it. It just said "I am the one" when I started researching WLS. Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? VERY HAPPY!! It turned out exactly as I hoped it would. It functions just as I hoped it would. And its WORKING just like I hoped it would. *huggles* Felicia =0)

What surgery did you have? Lap Ryn Why did you choose that surgery type? It was covered by Canadian insurance. The wait was fairly lenghly. I started the process in January 04 and I had surgery in October 2006. That was actually quite quick for a Canadian surgery. Most of us apply to have coverage for surgery in the US. That process is only about 6 months. My PCP would not sign any papers saying I had the comorbities that would allow my the option of a US Surgery. Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? I am abosolutely beyond happy! I wish I would have been able to have it done sooner. I feel better everyday!

Morning Felicia!! Great question. I'm glad you asked it. I've wondered sometimes which surgery everyone had also. What surgery did you have? LAP RNY Why did you choose that surgery type? I didn't really have a choice. It was the only surgery covered by my insurance. However, even if there had been a choice, this is the one I would have picked. I liked everything I learned about this surgery and the side effects of it. I like that it's long term and the only thing I have to do is follow my doctor's protocol and go in for lab work and yearly checks (once I'm past a year). It just seemed to be the best "fit" for me and my life. Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? VERY happy. I have never regretted it. That's not to say there aren't days where I wish I could eat a LITTLE bit more - or a bigger variety of foods. But, overall, I am thrilled. Susan

Felicia, isn't it amazing how our brain gets a hold of something and warps around it? I also assumed that we all had RNY and you know about "a s s u m e d" what surgery did I have? Lap RNY why did I choose the type? There was no questioning which surgery to have for me. I know I wanted a permanent fix. With the lap band, I didn't what to have to worry all the time if the band was going to sli*****t. Are you happy? Extremely, I couldn't be more pleased w/ the results so far and I'm along w/ everyone else am just 4 months out from surgery. Look at the progress we've all made so far. Did you ever think you'd be at this point a year ago? I know I didn't. Here's another question? Were you happy w/ your surgeon and would you recommend him to your friends? Extremely happy. Dr. Byrne at medical university of south carolina is one on the top surgeons in this field. I have, and will continue to recommend him to everyone. Although he's considered general surgeon, 80% of his surgery call these days is for bariatric surgery. Donna, sfy

Great Question... What surgery did you have? RNY Why did you choose that surgery type? I wanted to be held accountable..I knew I could cheat with the lap band. I wanted something more permanant (sp) and something I would have to answer to if I did something wrong, back to the accountability. Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? I am totally THRILLED!! and HAPPY!! I definetly made the right decision!! no doubt. Did I pick the right DR? Absolutely...I love my DR-McDreamy is what I call him and he has the best bed side matter of any DR I have ever encountered. I will suggest him to anyone and everyone. DR. OLDHAM JR IS THE GREATEST!!! Hugs,

What surgery did you have? Laproscopic RNY Why did you choose that surgery type? I went in thinking I wanted to try the lap band but couldn't stand the idea of having something foreign inside my body. The surgeon I choose had some experience with with DS but not much. I was also afraid of the bad gas and diarrhea associated with DS. Are you happy with your choice or do you wish you had picked a different type? So far I couldn't be happier with the choice I made. Are you happy with your surgeon? I love this man! I wish he could be my PCP.
