i just cant stop shopping! someone please help me! previous to WLS i could not even fit into the supersized stuff. it is such a pleasure to look at the clothes, go through the racks, saying 'these things are too big for me, dammit!' what a difference i had my jeans for many years, it was stretched to fit me. so now that i can buy new stuff, i need space in my cupboards. i took one look at all those old jeans, and chucked it into the trash. i was imagining the look of glee on the hobo's face when he went through my bins, and saw JEANS ... he would pull it out ... and i imagine the perplexed look when he thinks 'DANG! THESE JEANS ARE HUGE and SO WORN!' and throws it back into the bin, hehe!! it was such a joy to buy 3x panties the other day at the store. and it was so cheap compaired to the 5x i used to get. Felicia, you should measure your hips ... so that when you look for a size, you can take the tape measure out at the store and measure the clothes before you bother fitting it on. that is what i do if no measurements are indicated below the sizes. my normal pants are also getting too long. i made about three or four tucks in the waistband so that the pants dont drag on the ground.

Great idea!! ( the measurement thingie ) i will do that!! That's what has always frustrated me before is when they put 3x on a pair and then what does that mean. And why cant they all be the same size when they say 3x??? LOLOLOL TO FUNNY about the old clothes. Thanks so much for the reply! *huggles* Felicia =0)

Not stupid, Felicia, not something to laugh at...you're among friends and we get it. For a couple years before surgery, I was terrified to go into the large size shops because I was afraid everything would be too small. I was starting to outgrow their largest size (30/32); it wa**** or miss for awhile. Last time I was in The Avenue, it occurred to me that in a couple more sizes, all of their stuff will be too big for me I haven't wanted to spend a lot on clothes during this transition, but I am job hunting now...and, well, I just couldn't risk my skirt falling off during an interview! I just picked up 2 skirts and 2 jackets on sale at KMart ($40 total!!!)...jackets in 22/24 and skirts in 18/20...I can't remember the last time I could take advantage of a sale like that! But, yeah, it's all scary. Will it fit? Am I fooling myself? Is everyone looking at me, wondering why that fat woman is even bothering to look??? (In truth, those skinny 20 year olds are probably looking in the mirror and lamenting how fat they are!) I don't have easy answers...you just have to fight it. Fight for your right to Be. I started doing this some years back, when I would watch other large women try to squash themselves up against the wall while sitting on the bus, trying so hard to take up as little space as possible...and I wondered if I'd been doing that...and I thought, the hell with it...here I am and I have as much right to be here as anyone else. But it takes hard work, constantly. The first time I tried sitting in a booth at the diner was scary, and the first time I used the turnstile to go get on the el train. Buying those clothes in KMart, I was sure the cashier was going to laugh at me. Buying shorts in Modell's a few weeks back was a terrifying experience. You just have to do it. Grit your teeth, take a deep breath, and walk around that store like you have every right to be there. You do. When I was a shy young teen or pre-teen, I got on the bus once with my big brother, and I was unsure of where to sit until he pushed me forward and he told me, "Whenever you go anywhere, walk in like you own the place." That advice has served me well and I am happy to offer it to you now. Try on the largest size first, if you think that will help. It feels much better going back to the rack for a smaller size than v.v. From what you say about your weight and from what I can see in your pics, I think you are going to be pleasantly surprised. Besides, somewhere out there, in a shelter for homeless or abused women, is a large woman in desperate need of clothing...time to hand yours over. Your sisters are with you, Felicia...get to the store...and, remember, just walk in like you own the place.

I know what you mean about the BIG pants!!! I have been wearing elastic waist band pants for the past 4 years. It is just comfortable for me since I had the hysterectomy with all the weight that I gained in my stomach area. Before my WLS I was wearing 22/24. I was always scared to see what size it would have been if it was pants with zippers!!! Well, last week in finally started to break down and start buying new clothes because my 22/24's looked like I was about to fall threw and hang myself in them. I bought 2 pairs of 18's first thinking they would be just right without trying them on. Well, the next day I wore a pair to work to discover...damn! I think I can go a little smaller!!!???? Before I left work that day (Wal-Mart) I bought 3 pairs of 16/18's and they feel good on me. I really don't think it will be much longer before I am going to go for the 14/16's. I am sure that with some more exerising (if I can get myself motorvated???) I hope to be in 12 by this summer. With the cold weather and snow and everything I have no motorvation to excerise much and I know that is why I am not dropping the weight like I should. I am sure once the weather gets better and spring comes I will feel more energetic and want to do more. At least I hope that is the way it is going to go!!! lol I wish you the best on your clothes shopping!!! If there is one thing I hate more than anything is shopping for clothes but now that I know the sizes are going down I am not hating it as much. I tried on a pair of zip-up jeans at Fashion Bug and lol I couldn't get them past my lower belly roll!!! That kinda pissed me off but I am slowly getting there!!! Lisa S.

Felicia, if there is a Walmart nearby go there to buy new pants. You don't want to renew your license with with your pants falling down do ya? I have had to go shopping for new clothes quite a few times. It's not so bad and it can be fun. Elizabeth

Awww! Your NOT stupid for thinking like that. Trust me I know what you mean about undergarments because my panties I swear resemble "Hammertime Pants" that M.C. Hammer used to wear because they are so saggy in the booty. I finally bought some clothes b/c at work they said I looked like a kid wearing their fathers outfit and my pants got long like yours have I started tripping on them literally. Fashion Bug has a sale this weekend so maybe that would be a good time to go try some new sizes that would be affordable since you will be losing more. HUGS Margo Marie
