Kind of a disturbing discovery...

Donna, I am ..that just cracked me up!!! I definetly have noticed, I had a Fed-EX man stop and ask for my phone number at a gas station...guys checking me out and running into a wall...a 23 year old telling me I am hot! All of it is great, I like the attention but where was it 63 lbs ago. I am definetly not going to mistreat anyone, I will treat others as I would want to be treated..that is my motto. I say let go of the anger and enjoy the attention!! Just remember to hold on to who you are and what got you to the point you are today. This is a great place to share our emotions and our daily battles. Lots Love... Hugs,

I'm not even talking about the flirtations, though...just simple human kindness. It's just hard to get past that people can be that ugly inside and treat others so badly for no good reason. Lisa

Yup!!! Sad but true!!! People are treating us different and it is the weight! I work in the public (Wal-Mart of course) and guys are much different now toward me. I have guys that I work with that rub my shoulders for me and gives me hugs. I even have one guy that now calls me "Skinny" all the time...that is a laugh. I just tell him I am not skinny yet just "Skinner". I also have one guy that is taking his breaks when I do and comes over to my dept and chats at least 1 or 2 times a day. His girlfriend works there and he knows I am married!!! He is rather flirty to but I just laugh at him whenever he says something that I don't know how to respond to. I believe he has a crush and I find it flattering but I am not interested if he has any ideas in mind. I have been down that road before with my first marriage and messed up big time! If I go looking for someone else I will make sure I know what I am doing this time and that I don't let my heart over run my mind. I was only 22 back then...didn't know much and have learned a hell of alot since then!!! Lisa S.

Yes I noticed it too. There is a guy in my office building who I would politely say hello to when passing but he never acknowledged me. Now he say****o me first and is real chatty. I show professional courtesy to him but I definately do not want to get all buddy-buddy with him. It really is annoying and this was one of the things I was worried might happen. Elizabeth

Yup, I notice it also. I actually didn't think about it until about a week or so ago. I ride a commuter train everyday for an hour and have had several men strike up conversations with me over the past few weeks - that NEVER happened 65lbs. ago! One guy even hit on me. I'm getting lots more smiles and people holding doors & elevators. I'm totally not used to it so it makes me very uncomfortable (not to mention those rings on my left hand), but what bothers me most is that I'm not a different person from who I was pre-op. It really gives you an insight into how much of a role weight plays in how people are treated.
