*hugs* ouch! I think you are doing what you can do. I haven't had that happen to me but I also have taken colace ( with out the laxative ) 1-2 times a day since 2 months out. My guess is that you are going to have to just give it time to let what you have been taking move it through. I would for sure give my surgeon a call though and see if he/she had any advice to speed up the process. *huggles* Felicia =0)

Michelle!! You poor girl! I am so sorry you are having this problem. Have you contacted your surgeon or PCP about this? They may be able to recommend something else to help. Hope you are doing better soon! Hugs, Susan

Sorry to hear what you are going through Michelle. I think all of us can relate to this at one time or another. I know right after surgery I was having a hard time fathoming the idea that I was not going to the bathroom daily. I mean before when I ate like a hog and nothing but junk, I was going twice a day. Then after surgery when I was only going every other day, I was so baffled. I am really bad at getting enough or even any fiber in my diet. Now I daily put a spoon of FiberSure in my protein drink or any other drink I am having. Makes me nice and regular, which is so nice. I would call the doctor to see if they can offer any help. Once you are cleaned out then maybe you can start taking something daily to keep yourself regular. Good luck and hope you are feeling better........Gay

OOO I am so sorry. I have been there though. When I started taking the prenatal vitamins they have extra iron and that did it! Adding benefiber a few times a day really helped. What worked in the past as well is Peri-Colace. It is a stool softener with simulant laxstive. That is what was suggested to me by the surgeon when had not gone in a week. Works like a charm. But now with the added fiber I don ot have any problems anymore at all. I hope you find somehting that works for you. Best luck, Melissa

Sorry you are having problems! It is very uncomfortable when you cant go...I had a bit of a problem when I changed iron supplements. I talked to my bariatric nurse about it, and she said to try MOM, or even magnesium citrate if I was really desperate. The magnesium citrate is what I had to drink for my bowl prep before surgery. It is awful, but I had to do a full 12 oz bottle of it. My nurse said to drink it in a smaller quantity now for laxative purpose, but that it was definately an option when I was desperate to go. Since surgery, I have also used a glycerine suppository with success. Good luck!

I relate so well to your issue. I suffer with it about every other week. It is all or nothing for me. And it is miserable. One thing that has helped is don't take your multi-vitamin and calcium at the same time. They bind together and can cause constipation. since I stopped doing that, it has improved for me slightly. Be careful!! Aime

There is nothing any worse than being constipated!!! I have never been a regular person but now that they have put me on Iron I have found some change. I was told on one of the other boards that Benefiber works good. You can get the sprinkle on kind and it has no flavor...you can put it on everything you eat if you want. I have the Benefiber chewables - orange flavored. They taste ok but haven't had any of them in awhile...guess it is time to break out the bottle again since the iron is messing with my system a little more than I like. Lisa S.

there is no polite way to put this, Michelle. i suggest you get a suppository (spelling?) and shove it up your bum. that way it was soften last weeks stool that gotten all hard and dried out that now cant come out. you should get a few suppositories, cos it doesnt always go in properly the first time good luck!
