I know several of us have been hitting plataus lately. I found this on another message board here on OH and wanted to share it with you guys, in case you didn't see it. Even if you don't need it now, you may want to file it away somewhere in case you ever do need it (which hopefully you won't). Good Luck!!! Platau Busters Diet 1) Drink 2 quarts (64 oz) of water a day 2) You must have 45 grams of protein supplement and all your vitamin & mineral supplements each day 3) Consume up to 3 oz. of the following high-protein foods, 5 times a day: ? beef ? pork ? chicken ? turkey ? lamb ? fish ? eggs ? low-fat cheese ? cottage cheese ? plain yogurt or artificially sweetened ? peanut butter ? beans/legumes You may also have: ? sugar free Popsicles ? tea or coffee, decaf, black only ? sugar free sodas ? sugar free Jell-O ? broths and bullions ? Crystal Lite drinks 4) IF IT IS NOT ON THE LIST YOU CANNOT HAVE IT FOR 10 DAYS 5) Keep a food diary and get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily.

Lisa... GMTA...I had the same thought when I saw the soda. I've seen this diet before, but never with soda as part of it....Interesting... Susan

Hey...I didn't write it, just copied it. Hee Hee. I didn't even notice the soda thing. I don't drink it either. My boss' daughters both had WLS and one stuck to the plan and didn't drink diet soda and did great, the other drinks diet soda all day long and has gained back some of the weight. I think I'll stick to what my dr told me and avoid them. I don't really like the taste (rather after-taste) of many of the diet soda's, so I would rather drink water. Also, I got this off of a surgery board that was probably 6+ mos out. Can't remember where I saw it, as I was browsing some of the older boards to see what I have to look forward to. I was going to try this this week...to get me to onederland by Valentine's Day, but Friday we are having dinner at my mom's for my sister's birthday and she is making my favorite...Liver and Onions...and I know the taste of mashed potatoes and the gravy are not on this plan. Also we are going to Red Lobster on Saturday for my sister's birthday...Yeah, I know...she is going to be 39 and thinks the needs to have a BIRTHDAY WEEKEND, which she called a Princess Birthday Weekend. I know at Red Lobster I will probably get Crab Legs and a Salad and will probably end up eating 1/2 a biscuit. If I don't make my mini-goal by Valentine's Day, it will be my own fault. Hee Hee. Anyways...not a great week or 10 days to do this diet. Maybe I'll do it when Dave starts his Liquid diet the following week for his WLS. We'll see. ~Tabby

I asked my neighbor about diet soda -- she had GB too. She said she can drink a little of it, it makes her burp a lot, but she can handle a little of it. I've tried a little, but the only kind I can drink is diet ginger ale...and I would much rather have plain old water! Holly

Thank you Tabby...I have also seen this diet all over this board. I feel like I do this now. I just try to stick to my DRS orders. Then of course I have not moved this week. Some of you are really scaring me with drinking these carbonation drinks...very important...STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! They are very bad for us. I will step down now...love you guys!!! Hugs,

Ok this is my 2 cents but I have to say this... I had WLS so I would NEVER HAVE TO DIET AGAIN. People need to relax and be patient. It will come off if you stick to a balanced diet and to the WLS rules. Plateaus suck but they are a part of the deal. Would scare me to death to get back into the "diet" game no matter the "short term" of the "diet". They didn't work before surgery lol they wont work now. Besides if you read this all it really is telling you to do is up your protein, fluids and to work out. HMMM sounds like what we are supposed to be doing anyways. Ok again thats my 2 cents lol And yep Tabby I know you just copied and pasted this so of course this is not directed at you personally *BIG HUGS* *huggles* Felicia

Regarding the soda, I was told to stay away from it for the first 6mths to a year because it can cause gas which in turn can stretch our pouch. I have a friend who had WLS 3 years ago last month and she drinks sodas, but she did not have any until after the 6 mth mark.
