Good morning
Hi everyone.
Just checking in to say hello. It's been a long weekend - and looks like it's going to get longer. Son # 2 is still having massive asthma problems and is wheezing really badly today. Took him to the pulmonologist on Friday and if he's not better on Monday we have to go back again. The way it looks today, we may be going back.
I'm doing okay, I think. Just really tired from getting up around the clock taking care of him. Plus my allergies have gone haywire and it feels like I'm developing a sinus infection. ICK...
Hope everyone is having a good day. Enjoy the Super Bowl!
Susan
HI SUSAN,
I'M GOING TO SAY GOOD AFTERNOON AS IT'S NOW 2:50 IN N.C.
I'M SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR SON, I CAN RELATE, I'VE BEEN AND ASTHMATIC ALL MY LIFE. AT FIRST, AS A CHILD IT WAS VERY SCARRY, NOW AS AN ADULT IT'S ANNOYING. NOT BEING ABLE TO GET ENOUGH AIR IN MAKES YOU FEEL LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER, GASPING.
HAS HIS PULMONOLOGIST STARTED HIM ON ORAL STEROIDS SUCH AS PREDNISONE? I KNOW ALOT OF TIMES THIS WAS THE ONLY THINK THAT WOULD EVENTUALY HELP, ALONG W/ THE HAND HELD NEBS (BREATHING TX.)
UNFORTUNETELY, THERE WERE TIMES NOTHING WOULD HELP UNTIL I WAS ADMITED TO THE HOSP AND PUT ON IV STEROIDS. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO HIM.
I HOPE YOU'RE ALSO FEELING BETTER SOON. HAVING A SINUS INFECTION ON TOP OF WORRING ABOUT YOUR SON IS NO FUN.
I'M SAYING A PRAYER FOR BOTH YOU AND YOUR SON AS I WRITE.
FEEL BETTER SOON,
DONNA, SFY
Hey Donna,
Sounds like you definitely know what I'm going thru with my son. Yes, he's on prednisone. Actually has been on it for most of the month of January and all of Feb so far. He's taking 60 mg per day right now....and not getting any better. Plus, asmanex - max dose of 3 puffs bid, foradil: 1 puff 2x bid, flonase and astellin nasal sprays, nexium, xopenex hfa, 4-6 puffs every 4 hours, singular and zyrtec. Plus we do multi-vitamins and vitamin C to try to keep his immune system going and calcium supplements with Vitamins D & K as he's also lactose intolerant. This poor kid practically rattles when he walks.
He's compliant with all his meds. I know because I watch him take them every day. And, even with all we are doing, he is wheezing worse today than he was on Friday afternoon when the Nurse Practitioner saw him.
Thanks for the prayers. We definitely need them.
Susan
Susan, Sorry to hear about your son, I know that has to be a terrible ordeal. My son when he was younger till the age of 8 had asthma and he has grown out of it but still has sports or excercise induced asthma. Hate to hear you are also falling ill. I will pray for your son and you. Hope your week becomes a little easier...
Go COLTS!!!!
Hugs,
Thanks for the prayers Angela. Keep them coming please! They are needed as he seems to be getting worse. I'm really afraid if he doesn't turn around tonight, they are going to put him in the hospital....and he really doesn't need to be exposed to the germs there!
BTW, congrats on the Colts win tonight!!
Susan
