Here is my day...
deanne,
a couple of things for you to think about....
1. they are his primary teeth, and his permanant teeth are right there ready to replace them!! yay!!!
2. sounds to me like they abcessed because of trauma... i'm a dental hygienist, and from what you've posted that what i'm guessing. not a thing you could have done to avoid that.
3. you are hurting for him... a bad mother wouldn't hurt.
now, keep doing what you are doing, being a great mom. hug him, and worry about him, and hold his hand through this time, and stop beating yourself up for something that couldn't possibly be considered a lack of parenting skills.
he'll get over the teeth bing pulled, my son had a couple pulled just because they wouldn't come out and the others were there, but don't forget that the tooth fairy leaves "extra" for teeth that are pulled by the dentist. by the time he reaches under his pillow on tuesday morning his antibiotic should have kicked in big time, and all he'll be thinking about is what is under that pillow!!!
keep us posted on his progress.

Infections can turn in a minute. Don't blame yourself. How would you have known it was an infection? I know it is hard not to feel blame. It took me a long time to resolve the fact that my son got spinal meningitis at 18 mos of age. The illness has caused him a lifetime of issues. We cannot control everything even though as mom's and dad's we want to control and mostly protect our babies from any harm.
Hugs and smooches for ya.
