Here is my day...

Well it started out last night when I got home. My oldest son's upper lip was swallen twice the size. He looked like he had a sore of some sorts but I told him that if it was not any better by morning I would take him into see the doctor. Well this morning comes and it is WORSE. It has now moved into his cheeks and towards his eyes about 1/4" from his eyes. So I call when Dr's office opens up and ask them for an appt. They said come in at 9, well why I was there I was seen too for this darn sinus infection that will not go away. (All is good with me now have an RX) When we are there I feel like the worse parent and they say that the infection is almost to the point where we need to be very aggressive with the antibiatics that we give him. They took his blood and checked out his white blood count it came back at (13000...normal range is 4000-11000, so a little higher) so we can put him in the hospital (because it is so close and near the eye and the brain area) and give him an IV of antibiotics or give him shots today, tomorrow then put him on a 10 oral antibiotics, also sending him to the dentist. He has an absse (sp??) tooth (front tooth) so after this whole deal of the office they are in there talking with me and him about tomorrows appt and I break down as they said they do not want it to move anymore and made lines on his face so that the other doctor tomorrow (which she came in today) can see the face. We also seen the dentist today and to see what his plan was on his tooth/teeth. That is when I break down and start crying, I would want this to happen to me before my boys. So we go in tomorrow for another 2 shots of antibiatics then back on Monday for another check up to see how things are going along with the dentist to pull both of his front teeth as they are both waiting there wanting to come in. So that is my day...and I am running late on vitamins, water and protein today. Oh well my boy is taken care of. Sorry so long and I am sure I babbled in here. Hugs~~ Deanne

I can not believe how tough this guy is and the only thing he was afraid of was a finger poke to take a little blood. He is such a brave boy other than a swallen face he is acting perfect so I am sure he will be fine in no time. Somedays I have to wonder though. Hugs~~ Deanne

Oh, Deanne, what an ordeal. So sorry to hear that you son had such an infected tooth and it spread like that. Don't beat yourself up. You were keeping an eye on it and did exactly what I would have done "If it's not better tomorrow...". I hope that the antibiotics work quickly and start clearing up the infection and that he gets those teeth out ASAP. Please keep us posted. Now, take care of yourself, too and I hope you can finally kick that sinus infections butt!!! Hugs, Tabby

It has been a big ordeal. I did not even know that younger children could get this I though it was for older people and ones that do not care of the teeth. Boy was I wrong. I hope they work quickly as well. I will keep you posted...teeth come out Monday at 9 am...YEAH. They told me not to tell him about the pulling of the teeth but he will be excited because he wants to lose a tooth in the worst of ways. lol I hope that I can kick this sinus infections butt too. I am way tired of this!! Hugs~~ Deanne

Deanne, First off you are not a bad mother. I hate that you have had such a hard day. I pray your son gets better and you do better with this ordeal. I am sure he will be fine, children are resiliant. Take care and I will be thinking about you. Hugs,

Thank you Angela!! Your words mean a lot...it has been one of those weeks where I am not sure if I should run fast the other direction or face it like I have. I am sure he will be fine in no time as well but come on what more can one have today/week. My emotions are running high anyways with other post I have made so this has not helped it either. Hugs~~ Deanne

I would've done the same thing. I'm famous for "see how you're feeling in the morning." You're a wonderful parent! Just think of those that don't care about their kids and wouldn't take them to the doctor if they needed it. Now that your son is on his way to recovery you need to take care of yourself. I'm glad that you finally got an antibiotic. You should start to feel better within a few days. You're a strong woman and just look back at all you've overcome this week!!! Keep us updated Allison
