Losing my hair.......

UGH I knew it would happen. It happens to everyone to one extent or another after WLS. I KNOW this.... BUT...this time it's happening to me!!! Waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh Okay, I'm finished whining. Maybe. But, I did want to tell you guys I am losing my hair. Quite a bit of it. I'd have to say about 3-4 times as much as normal in the shower and now there's hair in my comb also - when before there was none. I know it could be worse - and I pray it will NOT get worse. For those of you who had surgery later in the month, you may be facing this soon. I really did think that by keeping my protein and B-complex vitamins up that I wouldn't have to deal with this...or at least not a lot, but I was wrong. Oh well....it will grow back. I hope! Susan

ah yes I know this moment in time well lol. Happened to be starting about a month ago. I stuck to my protein like clock work. Took all my pills like I was supposed to. Added in the "old wives tales" options just in case and nope none of it helped lol. Luckily I have super thick and curly hair so you can tell but there is rarely a day that goes by that I do not brush out a handful lol. Hey at least we wont go bald and it will grow back!! *hugs* Felicia

Thanks for trying everything and finding out nothing works. You just saved me lots of $$$$$ this coming week at GNC. I was going to go ask them what they could recommend. You know how quickly THAT adds up! Susan

Just an fyi...I worked at GNC for a bit, years ago, and while their products are good and their staff members have to learn about the products to work there, they all make commission on certain products...and I recall the company had "secret shoppers" to make sure the staff were pushing certain products...just something to keep in mind... Sounds like most chain stores. I remember when my hubby worked at Sears...it was the same way. Thanks for the heads up though. I had forgotten about how aggressive some stores can be about pushing their products. Susan

Thanks Allison. I'm trying to be philosophical about it....but it's difficult. It's crazy, I can deal with all the food related stuff we go thru.... But, when it comes to being cold and now the hair loss, I lose it. I know it's probably going to happen, but when it happens to ME, it's another story entirely. Sad, but true. It's funny, before the surgery, I thought it would be NICE to be cold for a change. I thought losing some hair wouldn't bother me. I thought having a stall and losing inches wouldn't bother me at all. I was stressed out about the food. NOW, I have the food under control and it's all the other things that make me Oh boy, was I ever WRONG before the surgery. LOL....at least I can laugh about it....some days. Susan

Hi there I had surgery on the 19th of October and my hair has been falling out by the handful, in the shower. It has been happening for about 2 weeks. I have tons of hair and I have my hair thinned everytime I get it cut so I have some hair to spare. Hopefully this to will pass and we won't go bald! LOL I just thought I would co-miserate! Tara

Thanks Tara. I've have my hair thinned pretty often also. What's making me is that I seem to be losing my hair like an old man - right in front in that upside down W shape. It's AWFUL!!! I can't wear my hair pulled back anymore because it's VERY obvious. I guess what made it so bad was when I showed my hubby how my hair is thinning and he started cracking jokes. It really hurt my feelings. MOST of the time, I have a sense of humor about everything that happens - especially WLS related - and his jokes don't bother me. But, I have to admit being very vain about my "naturally curly hair" like the girl on Peanuts. And, having him not take me seriously made me cry then...and stay upset about it most of the day. Maybe I'm PMSing..... Susan

WHAT???? MY HAIR IS GONNA FALL OUT???? Just kidding. Mine hasn't started yet, but I'm sure it will. I was going to keep it short, but my hairdresser told me to start letting it grow out, just in case I started losing it, I would have more to hide the loss. She also said she had a client that had the surgery and lost all of her hair from the bottom hairline. Never heard of such a thing. Sorry to hear that it is your turn to start losing. So, no matter what we do, the loss will hit us? Oh well, it'll be worth it in the end. Hope you don't lose that much. Hugs, Tabby
