Update on Hubby's upcoming surgery...

Well, today I called to dr's secretary to see if they had all of his lab work and paperwork in and got their voice mail. I left a message with his name and what I wanted to know. I came downstairs to start exercising and the phone rang. It was the lab calling to say...get this...when they did hubby's labwork, they missed TWO tests and he has to come back in to have them done. URGH!!! One was the fasting glucose, which means he has to try to work in going before work, and can't go on his lunch break. This is kinda hard to work in because he is the one the drops our daughter off at daycare and our son off at pre-school. Doesn't give him much time to do anything before work. I asked how long the results took and they said they run them that night and will fax the results the following morning. So the only holdup would be hubby finding time to go get it done. After hanging up with them and calling hubby to let him know, I started exercising again and the phone rang. This time it was the dr's secretary calling to tell me what the lab just told me. She said they had everything else to submit to insurance. I said "So, once you get these tests you can submit?" and she said "Oh, no, we will submit now and he can get the tests done in the meantime." WHAT??? I was so excited. Our insurance takes about 2 days to approve. Then she asked when he wanted his surgery. I said "He wants it after the Superbowl" and I said "I have a party planned for my daughter on Feb. 17th, so I don't want it to interfere with that." She said that they might be able to do it Feb 5th, 6th or 7th. This would give him a week before my daughters party to recoup some. That's like in two weeks. From what she said, he might be able to go in for his pre-op next Thursday and surgery the next week. I'm sure he would want it on the 7th, so he can do the liquid diet on the 5th and 6th. If she calls tomorrow, I might talk to her about this. The whole idea of waiting until after the Superbowl is to get to enjoy the party he goes to every year...all you can eat steak, shrimp and all the beer you can/ wish to drink. So, it is getting close. I hope to get the insurance approval in the next day or two and have a surgery date to update you with. Thanks for listening and for supporting us. Hugs, Tabby

TABBY, WHAT WODERFUL NEWS. YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND MUST BE SO EXCITED, AND TO HAVE THE SURGERY DONE SO QUICKLY IS AMAZING. SINCE YOU'RE LIKE ME, WORKS IN A MAJOR HOSP. DOESN'T IT MAKE YOU NUTS WHEN THEY SAY " WE FORGOT TO RUN TWO TESTS". IT'S NOT AS IF THEY DON'T HAVE THE ORDER RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM. SHEEESH. BUT WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO GET THE SURGERY DONE IS WORTH IT. I'LL KEEP YOUR HUSBAND, YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN IN MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. DONNA, SFY
