Had my EMG today....

So, today I went for that EMG... everyone had me so scared, saying how painful they are. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! A few little pinches, and they zap you with like a little stun gun, kind of neat! Afterwards, the numbness/pain has been a little worse/heightened, but it probably just aggravated the condition. Won't have the results until early next week, and I guess I'll find out how they plan on treating this, as I have no clue. But the funny part is, the dr. today said I should take it easy with my arm/hand and don't use it - FUNNY, it's my right hand - I do everything with that arm!!

Hey Michelle, I must of missed something. What was the EMG for? What is it? Is everything ok? Luvs and Hugs! Tiffany

sorry- 2 weeks ago, my pinky and ring fingers on my right hand went numb with pins and needles, and have been that way ever since. I get some dull pain in my forearm, too. I was worried that I was deficient in B12 or B1, as that is a symptom, I thought. But doc says labs are great, and if it was a deficiency, I'd show symptoms on both hands. She suspected a pinch nerve. Still numb... still tingling... she told me that if we let it go too long, it could become permanant!!! Thanks for your concern!!

Ok, so they did this test to see if it is a pinched nerve? And if it is, what can they do for you? I have a friend that has had this in the past. thats why I am asking.. I hope all is well!! and i hope you feel better! Tiffany

I am so glad your experience was better than mine!!! I had it done to see if there was nerve damage to my ankle after breaking it. I felt like the needles were a foot long and then they zapped me withthe cattle prod! they stuck needles in the back of my knee...ya know that tender spot? Youch! Were they able to tell you anything? is it nerve damage?

Don't ya just "love" how doctors tell you NOT to do something that is actually a major part of your existance with no suggestions as how to be compliant. Glad the EMG went well Aime

I am glad that your EMG went well. Yeah right easier said than done not to use your right hand for a few days. What are they crazy??!!?? I hope that you get good results and find out what is going on next week with all of this. Deanne

Glad that your EMG wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. I had a friend tell me it was the worst test she had had done and I thought it was just like a stun gun, too. Felt kinda cool. Like when you put a 9-Volt battery on your tongue to test it. Hee Hee. Hope your hand is feeling better today and you get the results soon. Keep us posted. Hugs, Tabby
