3 months out

This week has been a killer week both in stress and successes related to my wl. Work is the stressor. Enough said about that. Monday- I saw my nephrologist. I have a bizarre kidney disease that is monitored by a kidney specialist. Before my rny, they wanted double assurance that it would be ok with Dr. Zemel. He was so happy when he saw me. He is pleased with my results. He does want to make sure that I am continuing in the right directions so he will monitor me a little more closely for awhile. Wednesday- 3 month post op appointment. I weighed myself in the morning so I could compare it with the scale at my surgeon's office. Clothes do add. I was 202 stark naked. The scale at my docs office said 204.5. I am happy with both sets of numbers. DVR was very pleased with my progress and results. I asked what his goal weight for me would be and he said they have a goal BMI not weight. Then he told me I have lost 33% of the excess weight in 3 months. That is just amazing to me when it is put in that manner. 33% I also made another observation. As I kept gaining weight, I wasn't able to wear much of my jewlery without making an adaptation. My sons would keep giving me beautiful necklaces that would choke me. Now the necklace I wear all the time is too long. I can go back to wearing a normal chain length again. Also, i have noticed that my post earring fit better. They aren't looking like they want to squeeze through the other side of my ear. Also, I am not as fearful of having the back fall off. My wire earring slip in the holes more easily as well. Who would have thought that we lose weight in our ears also. I love these little discoveries. Have a great day everyone! Aime

Oh my goodness! Either way you look at it, you are less than 5 pounds from onderland! I have noticed the same thing with my earings, and marveled at that as well Congratulations on your success! Heather

YOu know, we have a lot in common. I too have a rare autoimmune / kidney disease...it's been in remission since high school but now I have to have everythign monitored closely by a specialist just in case. This is also why I try not to go too far ahead in my protein for the day, as protein is tough for the kidneys to process. I shoot for my 60g and no more that 10-20g over, and I'm good to go for the day. I'm finding the same thing w/ the jewerly too. I picked out a beautiful Tiffany necklace about 5 days before surgery. The boy bought it and gave it to me before Christmas. We were both nervous because, when he purchased it...it was too small to fit around my neck. Christmas morning it was so nice to open that package and slip it right on and have it look good! Congrats on a successful week. Next stop for you.....Onederville!

Hi Aime, You really had a great day...good for you! A 33% loss is just wonderful! Doesn't it feel great to be able to wear necklaces again? For years, I've only worn longer ones, though I love chokers. Now that I can wear the shorter ones, I am rarely without one. As well, now that I can wear jewelry around my ankle and not have it cut off my circulation, I'm wearing a lot of these too Lisa

Hi Aime!! Sorry to hear about the stress at work. I identify. That's why I quit my job. Just did not need that stress added to the stress at home of an asthmatic child (who I was always missing work because he was sick) plus getting ready to sell the house and move. Anyway, enough about work...lol CONGRATULATIONS on the 33% loss!!! You are doing FANTASTIC!!!! Keep up the good work!! You are going to be in Onderland soon!!! BTW, just curious, what is the BMI that your doctor recommends as a goal? Is it the same for everyone or does he adjust it for each patient? Susan
