Breakfast ideas??
I'm having a hard time coming up with breakfast ideas. My nutritionist says to stay away from protein shakes and I don't have time in the morning to make eggs, etc. I work full-time and I have a 9 month old and a 7 year old I have to get ready for school. I've been eating the weight control oatmeal (maybe 1/2 pack), but it's getting boring eating the same thing every morning.
What do you all eat for breakfast?
Thanks!
- Jeannette
My fav. breakfasts are simply leftovers from dinner the night before.
However, I haven't cooked this week, so I have fallen back on some old "standbys"
reduced fat string cheese
no sugar added carnation instant breakfast made w/ skim milk (most often)
weight control oatmeal
fat free cottage cheese w/ light canned fuit (not a favorite though)
precooked light turkey bacon (which can be warmed in the microwave)
Also - you can get the cartons of egg whites etc. If you pop them in a bowl and zap them in the microwave for a short amount of time you have no fuss scrambled eggs that take less time than heating up the water for the oatmeal.
Jeannette,
If you can handle eggs I have a great way to cook them that litterally is no fuss and sill take you no time. I am a career nanny so I know about being pressed for time.
If you are familiar with tupperware and their microwave soup mug then you will love this. All it takes is the time to crack and egg or two and 1 1/2 min to cook. Super easy and kids love it too. If you 7 year old likes eggs with cheese they will love this. I made it all thet ime for two boys that I took care of in CO. They had an eggh pizza every morning and LOVED them!
As for what I eat forbreakfast. Like Patti I eat leftovers (still not too good with eggs) or cottage cheese with low sugar pinapple (only once in a while as I try to stay low carb most of the time) or simply a Light & Fit yogurt. When the kids are up and active a yogurt is a great option to as it can easily be put down and picked back up. I try and eat when they eat though as it takes about 1/2 hour to feed them and that is what it takes me. Bite for them and bite for me...etc....
I hope that helps.
If any one is interested in the eggs let me konw and I will send the recipe / cooking instructions.
Hugs,
Melissa
Good morning Melissa!
I am always interested in new recipes. I would love the recipe/cooking instructions for the eggs and whatever else you would like to pass along. I am always printing the recipes that people post.
Thanks
Allison
By the way, I bought the peach/citrus drink and LOVE it!!!! They didn't have orange ade but did have lemonade. I chose the peach as a personal preference. I would've never looked for something like this in the soda isle. Thanks for the heads up!!!!
Yes, please send me the egg recipe. My oldest loves eggs and he would be in heaven if I could make eggs for him during the week. Right now it's just a "luxury" for the weekend. My email is: [email protected]
Thanks Melissa!!
OK here it is...I will put it on here for everyone. Don;t know why I did not kn the first place ..... silly me!
Ok just take 2 eggs and pop them in the tupperware soup mug and kindof scramble them...just like you would for the pan. Pop them in the micro for 1 min and 30 sec. Oh and put a paper towel on top. When they come out the neat trick is pop it out on the plate and stick a piece of sandwhich cheese on top and then invert the mug back on the top to help it melt. SOOOO yummy. My Dad still does this every morning. He will even stick a few real bacon bits in it sometimes. I have not tried it with one egg yet as when I have tried to eat it I share with hubby. Experimentation is key for that one. it is great. Kids I watched called it an egg pizza and my Godson calls it a circle egg with cheese. They just love it and it is SOOOO easy. The soup mug cleans out so easy and it ready for the next morning.
Hope everyone enjoys,
Melissa
What I have for breakfast depends on what I've made for the kids.
IF I cook bacon, sometimes (maybe once a week) I'll have a slice of bacon with my vitamins. Some days I have a 1/2 cup of cheerios w/fat free milk. Some days it's a protein shake. Some days it's s/f CIB w/warm milk and cinnamon (tastes like hot chocolate).
I have trouble with breakfast though. I've never ever in my entire life been a breakfast eater....I feel ill if I eat too early in the morning. So, I go for a 9:00 breakfast/snack and life is much better.
I know this wasn't much info, but I hope it helped a little....
Susan
Thanks Susan! Any information is good information. I'm going to try the Cheerios because I can do that here at work too. I also was never a big breakfast eater, so this meal has always given me problems. But when I saw my nutiritionist last time, she got upset with me because I sometimes skip breakfast. So I'm trying really hard to have breakfast every day.
Thanks again!
