Numbness?

Ok, so within the first month after surgery, I noticed my hands/arms 'fell asleep' like crazy; numbness/tingling/pins and needles... it lasted about 2 weeks or so; I asked my pcp about it, if it could be a B12 deficiency, because from the little I had read about it, it seemed like the symptoms were related to that; and I hadn't had my first B12 shot yet; she told me no. Well, all I know is I had never had anything like that before surgery; in mid-December, I got my 1st B12 shot; but by then, the symptoms had gone away. Well, over the weekend, my right hand, the pinky finger and one next to it, got numb, like they were asleep, like they were real cold; and they are still like that. (waiting for a call back from doc, and I have an appt. w/surgeon on Thursday). Has anyone had this? What do you think it is?

Have you considered carpal tunnel? I had CP when I was pregnant with my DS. Something about swelling of nerves during pregnancy. Well, after my DD was born 2 1/2 years later, the symptoms did not go away. I was loosing sleep because my hands were falling asleep all the time when I was sleeping. I started wearing braces to bed and it helped. Without the braces it really throbbed and woke me up a lot. I believe that the pinky and ring finger are signs of carpal tunnel. You might want to check with your pcp. I had the CT release done last June and the relief was instantaneous. WONDERFUL!!! I was just telling my mom the other day how I had suffered for so long with it the when I got it fixed I wondered what took me so long. Hope you can find out what it is soon. Keep us posted. Hugs, Tabby

I had to have both of my hands operated on for carpal tunnel. My hands would go completely numb. My left hand never expereinces any problem now. I am having some similar issues with my right arm and hand. I think that as I have lost weight some of the buffering from an old shoulder injury is gone so that I am having problems again. Talk to you PCP about this one. Aime

Like everyone else what comes to mind is CP. Plus as we lose weight your body shifts. You stomache also kindof drops like in a pregnancy a lot. That can throw your shoulders out of whck as well becuase of the change in yoru back. There are so many factors going on right now the Dr. is deff the right person to ask. I am very interested in what he has to say. I have not experienced anything like this so there is not much advice I have. Let us know what he says. Hugs, Melissa

Hi sweetie, I had the same problem. When they did my blood tests I was low on vit B1, Thiamin. It can cause tingle in your hands. Let us know what your doc says. Take Care, Amy
