Here is a question that has been on my mind: Are any of you allowed to eat raw veggies/salad yet? I miss it so much and can't wait to have it. I know different doctors and dieticians allow different things so I was wondering if any of you have eaten these since your surgery? Allison

My surgeon ok'd salads and raw veggies from week 4. I wasn't brave enough to try them until week 6 and haven't had any problem at all. I eat alot of salads (almost one a day). ~Blessings~ Halona

I am so jealous! I am 3 months post op and my surgeon still hasn't agreed to let me eat salad and raw vegetables yet! I would love a salad right now! LOL....Hopefully when I see my surgeon on the 25th, they will advance me to salads! Holly

Hi, I was out to my first lunch date on Friday - and ordered a salad and soup - the salad had potatoes in it, gorgonzola cheese and pecans , so my intention was to eat those items, and try a piece or two of the mixed baby greens to see how well I did. Well, I did good, but did not overdo on the greens at lunch; I doggy-bagged it, and had the rest of the salad (most of it) for dinner; it was delicious! I had been dying for salad for so long; my nut says stay away for 6 months; but i did ok. I heard from someone else to stay away from iceberg; go for dark greens; but that's what I heard, they didn't do well with iceberg and that apparently it is harder to digest. good luck!

Lettuce is not my friend but other then that I haven't had any trouble with any raw veggies. My fav is carrots dipped in blue cheese dressing. YUMMO! As always ask your surgeon but I would say by now you are set to eat salads! *huggles* Felicia

My doc allowed me to have salads at 6 weeks out. I love them!!! I just have to figure out how to get more protien in! Chicken, fish and turkey are all I am allowed to have so far and they dont sit well in my stomache! I tried a boca burger recently and they are not too bad. Anyone else have any suggestions on how to get more protien in??

Allison, I was allowed salad and veggies from 3 weeks out. I have had a little and it was fine but I just don;t eat much of it as I try to concentrate on the protein. But it went fine for me. Melissa

Hi Allison!! I was advanced to a "normal" diet in early December and was told by my surgeon to begin trying things SLOWLY. I did try salad, but it was mostly iceburg lettuce and that made me quite ill...and has continued to do so every time I've tried it since. However, I was told by others that baby spinach (and other dark green lettuces) were much easier to digest. I tried the baby spinach and have been happy ever since. Now I have a small salad every day. BUT, I have to reiterate what one of the others said.....always call your surgeon to make sure of what he/she recommends. Susan

I tried some salad tonight and have done ok but right now I am very nauseated so couldn't tell you if it was the salad or the hamburger I ate. Right now just feel like crud.
