Son was in hospital over weekend
Ugh - asthma sucks! I hope your son improves soon.
Hospital eating - yeah - a couple years ago, I took a diabetic education class at a local hospital. I would go straight from work and grab a meal in the cafeteria. The choices were awful - greasy sandwiches, fried foods, etc. I once ordered chicken that came with fries, but asked for the green beans instead. I had to pay extra for them!

hi susan,
i hope that both of your boys are feeling better soon. and don't forget to take care of you too!! i don't know much about asthma care, but keep trying to get fluids in your puker!! my kids would never drink pedialite, but i could get them to driink gatorade. i sugest you stick with the clear and the light colors, that red and purple gatorade is a ***** to get out of carpets if they don't quite make it to the bathroom. that was one of the hard lessons i learned as a young mom.
take care... all of you,
patricia
Hi Patricia...
I hear you about the colored drinks. I learned that one too when my oldest was little. Red kool-aid will NOT come out of anything.
I'm having problems getting anything into the little puker. He hates gatorade. He hates pedialyte. He hates popsicles. He hates everything on the BRAT diet...and only wants things he shouldn't have. So, it's a struggle with him. Plus, he has NO fever but still continues to vomit.
The asthmatic is still having problems and does not seem to be getting any better, which is really frustrating - especially after being in the hospital and starting to get better there. UGH UGH UGH I felt then that they let him out too quickly (I understand why - there are LOTS of kids there with flu and they wanted him away from those germs ASAP) but STILL!!!! He needed those IV steroids for another day IMHO!
Okay....off the soapbox for a while...
Susan
oh, Susan. I'm so sorry to hear that you had to take him to the hospital. I hope he is back to his old self soon and that you will be back soon, too.
Let us know how his follow-up goes. And congrats on your weightloss. They do serve pretty unhealthy foods at the hospital cafeteria. I work for a hospital and work midnight. I miss the 2am run to the cafe and getting a take out container loaded with double cheeseburgers and so many fries that you can't close the lid. But look how much weight I am losing by not eating it. Hee Hee.
Take Care,
Tabby
Thanks Tabby. I hope he's back to his old self soon too. It's taking a while this time though. He usually bounces back in 2-3 days, but this has been going for almost 10 days now. NOT fun.
Loved the story about the 2 am cafe run. But, yup, you are right. Look how much you are losing now that you are not able to eat like that anymore. I have to admit, I love the fries at the children's hospital here....and missed getting them...but was just so disgusted by the HUGE amount they put on peoples boxes! Before I would've been going "Oh yeah, pile them up!!" Isn't it funny how our outlook changes along with the surgery?
