SAT:Protein/Fluids...How did it go?
Ok here it goes!!
Calories: 844
Protein: 43
Fluids: 40
K...I need to see what some of you guys are eating..
Like today I had:
1 Cup of High Protein Special K
1-Cup of Lactose Free Milk
I cooked a Lean Cuisine Pizza and ate only 1/4 of the toppings..can't eat the bread
Lean Cuisine: Salisbury Steak with mushroom gravy, left 1/4 of it, whipped garlic potatoes maybe 4 bites, 2 bites of carrots.
I feel like I am doing something wrong...help!!
Every one is different so what is right or wrong for you could be different for me.. For me I wouldn't touch 3/4 of the carbs you are eating in a day and would make sure I was getting a LOT more protein in. But again that is what works for me ok!
Have you dropped a line to your NUT to have him/her check out what your eating? Might help you out with what your expected to be eating etc..
Lastly since we malabsorb you are not actually getting 43 grams of protein.. They guess-ta-mate that we only absorb about 60% ish...
Again my 2 cents I have no fact to back up if you are on point with your plan or not ok!!
*HUGS*

Angela,
Not sure what advice I can give but I can give you the guidelines that were given to me.
As Felicia said we do not absorb all our nutrients so we kinda need extra. I was told a MIN of 80-90 grms of protein a day. Keep below 20-30 grms carbs. If I do have any carbs make sure that they are good carbs. no bread or anything like that. A MIN of 64 oz water a day. We can include the milk and or water we use for a protein shake. I was told that I would need to supplement with a shake until I am able to eat enough to get that much protein in. Probably about 7-8 months out. My hubby is 6 months out and he still has to supplement. Always eat protein 1st and get a min of 4 oz in if possible and then and only then if there is still room eat veggies and then carbs. We were not given guidelines on calories or anything so for that I do not know.d I do know that when I have slipped and eaten carbs then my loss slows and halts big time. hubby has found that too. Without the protein and the water we were told that hair loss is a big factor as well as your body can not heal as well either therefore sagging skin woul dbe a bigger factor in the long fun.
I am by no means a Dr. This is just the guidelines that we were given.
I hope this helps.
Hugs,
Melissa
Ok today was an interesting day.
Had a very very groughy pough today. All morning nothing went very well. Did not even try anything but just kept the fluids flowing. Had a protein shake...went great....47 grms of protein down....LOTS more to go!
Hubbys Mom came and took us out to eat. Well after the HE** ride with her driving I was so dang car sick I could not eat anything. Felt sooooo sick. Stank big time cause we went to the Chart House on the river (Jersey side) with the view of the NYC skyline. Was beautiful but just had my diluted cranberry juice. Did order clam chowder but a few bites of just the base of it and I knew it was enough. Not a good thing today. Sip on some more cranberry juice. Beautiful view! If you are ever in the area you should def try it.
So tomorrow will be a better day I hope. At least I got one shake in.. Big plus that I have one I like and likes be back.
Got way over fluids today so that is good. Gotta keep the kidneys happy and healthy!
Hugs everyone!,
Melissa
I know I should be doing the protein shakes but they make me sick...even thinking about them makes me nauseated. That is why I do the protein bars. When I do eat I grab protein first always. I am making a appointment with the nutrionist this week so she can make sure I am on the right track. Thanks guys for the input.
