How many calories do you eat?
Hi everyone! Happy New Year!!!!!
I just wanted to post to ask about how many calories you eat per day. I am not sure whether my current caloric intake is appropriate, so I wanted to do a quick comparison to those whose surgery date is close to mine. I would never over eat / under eat based on this, but I amj ust wondering if I am being reasonable.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Mandy!
Happy New Year to you!!
It depends on the day I am having. Some times I can barley get in 5-700.. but today was a good day. I had about 900.. I am always scared I eat to much. Just think back to what you were doing before. Before WLS and I was eating at least 2000-2500+ a day.. So 900 I am sure is very good..
Hope this helped!!
Luvs and Hugs..

HI ya!!
Happy New Year to you too! I cant answer your question because I don't count calories but I think if you are following your plan that it will be quite a while before you can consume to many. Might give your NUT a call and see what they say about what you should be taking in. Short of eating foods I shouldn't I don't see how there is a possibility of getting to many calories in right now lol so I don't worry about it to much. I jus****ch my carbs and try and get in as much protein as I am supposed to and leave the calories for another day to worry about *grin*.
Hope you find your answer!

I don't count calories. I try to get in as much food my nutritionist has said to, though I rarely come close. As I am able to eat more, I am going to try to focus on portions and fullness and so on and not count calories.
I've been dieting since I was about 3 - 4 (no, I wasn't fat then), and I want to give up calorie counting once and for all.

I use Fitday.com to chart my daily intake. I use it mostly to make sure that I am getting in all my protein in but I noticed that I get between 500 and 900 a day. The higher numbers usually come in when I need to do a protein bar to supplement what I didn't get throughout the day. If I can get in all my protein with just real food then it stays between 500 and 600. My doc didnt give daily calorie recomendations, but yours might have one, give him/her a call and ask....it never hurts to ask!
Thanks, everyone! My surgeon and nutrition didn't really give me any guidlines so I was just curious. I use fitday to track everything - it is sort of in consequential that I even know how many cals I eat, so I figured I would ask you all! I was concerned that I was not eating enough, but it looks as though I am just right.
Thanks again!
Mandy
Hi Mandy!!
I didn't get on-line yesterday so I didn't see this post till today. Sorry it took me a bit to respond.
My surgeon suggests between 600-800 calories a day with a minimum of 60 grams of protein and 64 oz of water. I use Fitday to keep track and make sure I do okay on it all. I have to admit, I don't really worry about the calories unless I'm UNDER the 600 by quite a bit. I have noticed that if I don't get it at least 600 per day (and YES, I do have problems sometimes getting in that few calories!!!!) that I stall on my weight loss. I have also noticed that I never go over the 800. Most of the time, now, my intake is around 650-700.
I'm a fitday fanatic. I'm plotting everything, checking my nutritional analysis daily. And, I also keep a check on it using the weekly, 2 weeks and monthly time frames to make sure that overall I'm doing a good job. Because, as you know, some days you just don't get in enough of something and other days you get in lots of nutrients. I figure as long as it balances out over the week and especially over the month, I'm doing pretty good.
But, I have to say....Isn't it crazy that we have to EAT to lose weight??
Hope this helped a little.
Susan
I hate counting anything especially calories but I went to fitday.com and decided to try it and today I was right around 660 calories but I counted everything including drinks. I try to watch the fat, carbs but that is about it. I think we are all around the same at this point. Have a Great New Year!!!
