One of my favorite things to eat before surgery was rotisserie chicken. Bring it home hot and eat it juicy with the skin and all, till I got full...then put the rest in the fridge till I forgot about it. I bought one today, told myself I would bring it home and do the right thing about eating it properly. I was lying...I knew that...I had to taste the skin and nibble on the wings...I didn't get a lot down, but what I did is doing a dance inside me and I know it's coming back up. Why did I do it?????? It was easy to reason that it was chicken, so not like eating carbs... And I did go into the market after not eating all day and not drinking enough (I was running around all day)... Well, no pity. It's my fault I feel this way. In fact, even as I began to eat it, I said to myself, "I don't care if I get sick! This is just so good!" Maybe I've gotten sick so much that the idea isn't as awful to me as it used to be...? Like...if I'm going to be sick anyhow, I might as well...anyhow, that's childish and I don't feel good about it. As the chicken does a dance between my throat and my chest and my unhappy pouch, I know that this silliness is out of my system. I'm in no hurry to repeat this sort of mistake. Lisa

Lisa, I think we can alls ay...BEEN THERE DONE THAT....you are not alone. I love rotisserie chicken too but have not gotten one. Had not thought about not eating the skin... My down fall and give in way a cookie...so no worries....tomorrow is a new day! That is the lucky thing tomorrow is a new day and you can start over tomorrow. Your pouch will not let you have something you should not. Take it easy, Melissa

lisa, i hope you are feeling better. i know what you mean about "well, if i'm going to get sick anyway", but i haven't gotten that brave yet. i have been sick a few times, and to me, that was a few times too many. feel better, and tomorrow enjoy the chicken without the skin. have a good night, patricia

I so feel your pain here lol. Sad that things that wont like us still taste so darn yummy! That was me last night. Had dinner... was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good going down and SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO not good coming back lolol. I would say I learned something but I know I didn't. The fact of the matter is that it is still a crap shoot? to what will go down and behave and what wont. I do agree also with the "getting sick so much that the idea isn't awful". I used to think there was NO WAY I was going to vomit anything. Nope I was stronger then that and I could over come those feelings and just tough it out. WRONG! And now its like... Ow that hurts... is it staying ok I will give it a bit if not I am not suffering though it. Don't get me wrong I am not in the bathroom 24/7 lol but I don't fight the urge as much as I thought I would either. *hugs* Did it at least taste good going down??? LOL Felicia =)

It did taste good going down, but that damn chicken just strutted around pecking at my insides for hours! I also had a real problem with the idea of vomiting anything. Always knew I could never do the binge and purge because I was so put off by that (did lots of binge and starve though!). But that feeling of the food stuck in the chest is the worst! I'll do anything to get rid of that! Lisa

I hear ya. Last night I told Dale that I was sure I knew what a heart attack felt like because I hurt so bad. I had only had like 3 bites ( and there was NOTHING new in what I ate) and all of a sudden I felt like someone stabbed me. I used to think getting cramps was the worst feeling ever but I was wrong lol. At least I know when they are coming and how long they will last lol. This was terrible. Even when I managed to get the offending slime ( sorry gross ) OUT of my system the feeling lingered for a good hour. Now I sit here going ok no food for me anymore lmaoo. Ok so not totally true but it does make you sit back and think hmmmmmmmmm protein shakes not so bad to live on LOLOLOL. I love rotisserie chicken also. And your right the BEST PART is the skin ( isn't that the point of buying it? LOLOL ) Ahhh welll there will be a day when we wished we got sick over the smallest things. But DANG does it have to hurt so bad. Remember when it was just the runs we worried about roflmaooo *huggles* Felicia =)

Hi Lisa!! Hope you are feeling better today!! Don't cringe, but my surgeon actually recommends the rotisserie chicken but he states in large letters NO SKIN!!!! I've only had it once since surgery and it was the only chicken (besides Whataburger) that I have been able to keep down. I have to admit, I followed the doc's orders and didn't eat the skin. I hate getting sick, but like you, the thought of it doesn't stress me out like it did at first. Susan

I still can't get down chicken unless it's in a soup.
