Hello, I just wanted to kind of get an idea of how much weight some of you have lost. I don't know that I am doing too well with my weight loss, however I have not weighed myself in a month so I am not sure. I was also wondering how often do you guys weigh yourselves and if you have a scale that you use at home what brand do you have? Any suggestions on the best scale to use. Thanks

HELLO!!! Welp you probably already know this but comparing yourself to others will do nothing but give you gray hairs lol trust me I have more then a few pop out on my head in the last 2 months from doing just that thing lol. I believe the average is 10 to 15lbs a month. ( MY surgeon said 8-10lbs a month. ) Since surgery I have lost an average of 4 ish lbs a week or 16 ish pounds a month. Not equally of course. Some weeks I lose more some less. Some months I lose more some less. I weigh ( or sure try my hardest to ) only once a week on Monday's (although I cheated today and stepped on lol ). But I only count my "official" weight on Mondays. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my scale. I got it off http://amazon.com Its a weigh****chers digital scale. Simple and accurate to with in 1 lb of my Surgeons scale so thats even better! http://www.amazon.com/Weigh****chers-WW42R-Platform-Chrome/dp/B0000AHSA8/sr=8-3/qid=11673 26397/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/104-8094036-7225522?ie=UTF8&s=hpc I cant imagine making it a whole month with out weighing in. Congrats to you on that for sure!! Best of luck to you!! *huggles* Felicia

Thanks for the infomation. This is my first time posting on the website. I am going to buy me that scale today. It has been hard not weighing myself, but I have just been so busy lately and I knew that I could not wait until Feb (when I go in for my next check up) to find out the verdict on my weight loss.

Welcome to the site!! Please feel free to jump in anywhere ok!! Its the most fun when everyone is posting! I hope you enjoy the scale. It has survived in my house for several years now and thats with to large adults using it all the time and a 6 year old that thinks its fun to watch the number move when he jumps up and down on it lolol. I dont think I could wait between visits to my surgeon lol. I went last in November and I dont have to go again until April. I would be freaked out if I had to wait that long lolol. MY PCP's scale is the craps and off about FOURTY or so pounds so not worth counting on it lol. Good luck to you!! *huggles* Felicia

Lakisha, Honey don't compare yourself to anyone else because we are all different It will drive you crazy if you do. On the average it seems like 12 to 16 lbs a month but like I said we are all different. I try not to weigh myself and if I do it is about every other week. Good Luck and hang in there!!! Angela

I do not try to compare to others and somedays that is harder to do than other days. We all lose at different rates and times of the month etc. I would say 10-15 lbs is what I average on the losing side of things some months more and some less than that. I try to only weigh myself once a week but sometimes seek on it towards the end of the week to see how I am doing. Good luck on your weight loss. Deanne

Hi there First off let me say I am a slave to the scale. I love getting on it and it doesn't matter whether the numbers move. I see a direct relation between the amount of water and protein I get in and how far the numbers move. I had a slow start and I only lost about 20 pounds the first month (and I am including a two pre-surgery liquid diet). I had my surgery on Oct. 19th and I am down 55 today. Every one is completely different. I have a scale that saves my weight. It tracks my loss, shows me how many more to go to get to goal and gives me little stars for a quarter of the amout I want to lose to reach goal. You have to do what works for you. If you take comfort in weighing yourself and you use it at a good thing then go for it. If it takes over everything you do then I would think twice about how often you weigh in. Good Luck with your choice, Tara PS Taking measurments is also a good way of seeing things move when the scale doesn't show it!

Thanks I appreciate the encouragement. Well considering that I have not weighed since a week after my surgery. I think it is time.

A more friendly way to track your progress is a monthly or bi-monthly measurement chart. Nothing fancy is necessary, just a piece of paper, a pen and a tape measure works fine. When the scales are not moving, I am pulling out my hair, the tape measure always shows progress!!! If you are following protocol you will see the numbers on a measurement chart move. The scales show every drop of water weight and sometimes we do hit a stall.

Hi Lakisha!! Welcome to the board! Glad to see you posting and hope you will post often!!! It's always lots of fun when everyone is writing. As for the scale....I honestly don't know what I have. My parents bought it for a surprise when I got home from the hospital so I could keep track of my weight. As for how often I weigh....I weigh every morning after I go potty. I figure that's the most accurate weight of the day. Like Tara, I see a direct correlation between what I eat and drink and how my weight moves. And, it helps me to know if I need to up something or slow down on things. I've been able to use Fitday.com and the scale and keep my weight going at a fairly reasonable rate. Oh...and another good thing is to measure yourself every so often. If you aren't seeing the numbers move as quickly as you like, sometimes it's your bodys way of catching up. So, I try to measure at least once a month to see my progress there too. Susan Hope that helps.
