... get one? And if yes what did its say. If no why not? I finally broke down and got one cuz I am allergic to penicillin so I thought its as good a time as any. I got a dog tag one though so I could put more info on it and it would stand out. Nothing fancy. I also don't like to wear anything on my wrists so this worked out great. Besides it was cheaper then anything else I found lolol. Mine says : FELICIA M SMITH EMER#DALE406******* NO PENICILLIN GASTRIC BYPASS RNY NO BLIND NG TUBE To be honest wasn't sure what to put on it. I thought about putting "SEE WALLET FOR MORE INFO" but then though ya like I would have my wallet with me when they needed to see it lmaoo. Anyways was just curious to what you all did... *huggles* Felicia =)

Nope have not done one yet...though I have looked at them but have not broken down and did it yet. I am like you and not sure what I want it to say either. Did you go to any particular web site or where did you get it from? Hugs~~ Deanne

Ya I struggled with the wording till I figured out that if I just put what I can that at least they will see they need to watch out for something even if I missed something on the tag lol. I got mine at http://www.laurenshope.com/ ( I will say she is NOT the cheapest on the net) Here is the one I got: http://www.laurenshope.com/product.aspx?id=184&cat_id=23 I figured if I got it in red it would stand out lolol. And by having it on the dog tag chain that maybe they would take a sec to look at it thinking I was military or something lol. If you are looking for a plain bracelet though I would surf around. I found them as low as $12 around the net with out the fancy stuff. I worry about all the beads and things. I have a friend that is an EMT and he said that he wouldn't even bother looking to see if a beaded bracelet was a medical bracelet cuz when its an emergency all he would see is the fancy stuff so basically it would be a waste. he also said that he does try and look for them but its the regular plain ones that he pays attention to. SO I figured why waste money on the bobbles. ( Not to mention that they are WAY expensive! ) *huggles* Felicia =)

I did get one. Now I have it and wish since a trip to the er that I would have had no nsaids put on it as well. They were giong to give me some there for a pain killer and luckly I told them no nsaids. They knew nothing about what I should and should not have. I got mine off ebay though. It was really really cheap. Melissa

I ran out of room or would have added that lol. I figured I could survive easier having the NSAIDS then the NG tube lololol. Lesser of 2 evils *grin*. I didnt pay much for the one I got either. Knowing me I will forget to take it with me anyways lol. Heck for that matter one day it will probably end up on a scrap page lmaoooo *huggles* Felicia

I wear one, mainly because of my commute to work. I got it at MedicAlert.com. It states, Gastric Bypass, Do not blindly place N/G Tube use endoscopy. It then has my member number on it and the 800 phone number. Once called they give all my medical information including doctor's, phone numbers, husband's information, all prescriptions and anything else I think it is important for medical personnel to know. This is especially important if I'm unconcious. $25 per year, braclet was $10. Well worth the price, plus you get a medic alert card for the wallet with all medications listed on it, and this can be updated as many times as needed and a new one is sent to you (at no charge). Great for my peace of mind as well as my husbands.

I haven't gotten one yet...basically because I had an EMT friend tell me the same thing...that if it's an emergency they usually don't spend much time checking to see if there are any medic alert bracelets, etc on a patient. I know I should get one though...and probably will at some point or another in the next few months. However, thanks for the info about it needing to be a PLAIN one vs a "pretty" one. I probably would've gone for the other just so I could enjoy wearing it. LOL Susan

LOL thats why I got the necklace instead of a bracelet ( besides not liking to wear bracelets). I figured I may lose a hand and the bracelet would go with it but if I lose my head and in turn lose the necklace well it wont matter much what it said anyways now will it lmaooo so I figured that when they are cutting everything off they are more likely to see the necklace then they would a bracelet. Ok so I can hope anyways lololol So get the pretty one! Something is always better then nothing. *grin* I actually saw ones that had watches on them. I don't think that would be a good idea at all. I mean if someone saw the watch they are not going to EVEN think of flipping it around to see if its a medical tag. Scary. *huggles* Felicia

I need to do that too thanks that is a great idea I am allergic to most pain meds and I never thought about them needing to know we are WLS patients but I am going to do that soon.
