Hey all!! I know we are not supposed to weigh ourselves but I did and I am still stuck on the same number as I was over a week and a half ago. What is going on here? I am really bummed over it! I wanted to be at 200 lbs by the first of the year and I don't see 20 lbs leaving that quickly. Anyone having this problem!! By the way I also need recipes for finger foods and dips for Christmas Eve because I have family and friends that are in and out throughout the day so I need help!! Love Angela

Oh girl I so feel your pain. When I saw a zero loss the week before I was freaking. But I will tell you the same thing that everyone else told me. Stick to your plan and you will lose it. Best advice I got was to take an average of what I have lost since surgery instead of worrying over the weekly loss. Its hard but it does make me feel better to see that I may have stalled out one week but over all I am doing great. The weekly totals are what I like to track but they can give me gray hair. Up Down Up Down Nothing Up Down Up Down Nothing lol its enough to drive you mad!! But over all I am averaging what I should be per month and that is what counts in the end. As for finger foods... I am not sure what you can eat but if you are not having problems getting foods down I would just go for what ever finger foods and dips sound good and just try and make them a bit more healthy. Veggies and Dip, Prosciutto and melon, spinach dip with some good pita chips. It all depends on what YOU are able to eat =). Good luck and don't worry ( I know hard to do ) *huggles* Felicia =)

Angela, I know what you are going through. I am doing the same thing. I keep telling myself not to weigh, but I do it anyway. It ususlly takes about 2 weeks for me to a drop in weight. I am up and down or the same for about 2 weeks, then I will lose. It gets to be a bummer after a while, but then I see what I have done so far, and it's okay again. I was weighing everyday, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. That is a BIG NO NO!! Then I started once a week. Well, now I am going to weigh just once a month on my surgery date, the 12th. I think we would be better off that way. I pay more attention to my clothes and things that I can do instead of the numbers so much. Maybe that will help you too! So, remember, you are not alone in this! Hugs to you! Sherry

Hey Angela; I understand what you are going thru! I drop a pound or two then stay the same for a week! And it has been like that since the start. I am terrible because I weigh every morning and night (just before bed) I know it is a no no, but it is comforting to me to see the numbers move (when they do move). How about a Cheese and meat tray. Lot's of protein. Hummus is good too, but I would pick things that you can eat and try to stay away from making things that aren't good for you. Good Luck, Tara

Hi Angela! I've had this happen to me a couple of times too and I know how frustrating it is. What I was told by some people who are farther out was that you do have stalls, but it's not something to really worry about. It's your body's way of dealing with the weight loss. And, even though the number on the scale isn't moving, you may still be losing inches. I know every time I stall out, when the scale does move, it's usually several pounds. Hope that helps a bit. Just hang in there and keep working the program. It WILL work and the scale will move. Just stay positive. Susan

Susan is so right! The scale lies! I have not seen any movement on my scale for nearly a week now, but I am wearing (loosely) clothes that were too snug last week! Yes, it is frustrating when you see that number stay the same. I wish I could avoid weighing myself twice a day...but that's an improvement from my old diet days, when I would weigh myself upon waking...before and after each meal...after each trip to the toilet...after every walk...after work...before bed...if I happened to awaken in the middle of the night......hang in there, Angela, and be gentle with yourself. Lisa PS: I propose that those of us who are able, meet next October for a scale bashing party...we can throw them from a window or rooftop...rent a bulldozer...whatever - be creative...

It must just be the way it works. I , too, weigh myself morning and night. Not much movement but how can it when weighing twice per day. My clothes are big so something is working. I am almost at 50 down! I think i'll be happy when that happens. It is strange to be so good for so long and to eat so little and have stalls but i guess that is the way the body works. Don't beat yourself up over it. Especially if you are doing everything right. Good luck and happy holidays to all!!!!!!!!

You might want to try changing up your routine a bit, add more protein, cut the carbs ....or if your carbs are already low - up them for a few days, add extra water...anything to trick your body into thinking things have changed, it will kick back into weightloss mode and you can slide back to your normal eating routine (as long as it is a healthy routine to start with). Anyway, that is what has worked for me. As far as finger foods - shrimp ****tail works great. But if you want something that you can just leave out (like in a crockpot) - it's not exactly finger food, but could be a dip sorta - chili - you could make a big pot of chili and people can help themselves as they pass through.

Angela, I have done the same thing and usually when I do that I increase the fluids and decrease the food and the scale moves again. I know this time of year is hard but I agree with making good choices that are rich in protein and low in carbs. Someone once told me that if we were losing pounds and inches at the same time our bodies would look deformed that it is usually one or the other and it switches back and forth so whether that is true or not that is my story and i am sticking to it. The one thing we have to have which I am not good at is patience. We have to remember we have recently put out bodies through major shock and our poor bodies is probably trying to absorb the changes it was forced through. You are doing great and the good thing is everyone of us is doing the same thing so it must be normal. Hang in there and don't get discouraged but try increasing your fluid and decreasing each meal or snack just a little but still make sure you get in good protein and watch the scales move. It is just what worked for me and I hope it will work for you. I did that after stalling for 2 weeks then the next day I weighed and had lost 3 lbs so hang in there. Meat and cheese trays and light dips with fresh veggies are always a hit at any party and healthy to. Hummus is great. Not to mention these are really quick fixes as well. i have also found that I like this particular jello salad: 1 sugar free cool whip 1 can of crushed pineapple (light and drained then rinse) 1 can mandarin oranges (light and drained then rinse) 1 16 oz container of light cottage cheese 2 cups chopped walnuts 2 sm boxes of sugar free jello (lime or orange is my favorite but you can use any flavor)just use the powder don't add water combine all ingredients and mix then refrigerate for 2-3 hours before serving This one gives you that sweet fix but also has a little protein and nutrition to it.
