Period question
I went on birth control at 18 due to irregular periods. I wass getting it every 2 weeks. Then at 20 I went on Depo shots and no period for 5+ years. I went off the Depo a year ago and no period untill this past Halloween( 4 days after my RNY) It lasted 5 days and was gone, then the end of November it came again like clockwork and lasted 14 whole days!!! THEN...and this is the kicker....It came back 1 week later full force. I know that as you lose weight rapidly that you release a lot more estrogen but is that whats causing this? I am in between insurance till the 1st of the year and cant afford to go to the gyno till after then, so Im hoping for some advice!
hey beth,
i really don't have any answers about the periods, but i would suggest that you call and set up an appointment with your gyn for after the first of the year when you get your insurance. it may take a few weeks to get an appointment, so you might as well at least schedule one now.
hope all is better,
patricia
I am with everyone else....call your doc. I know that it can go haywire after surgery but your is a little more than I have heard of. I have been on BC for many many many years after years of not getting a period at all. I too took it to regulate things. Mine started early AT THE HOSPITAL!!! Talk about inconvenient. Another option is try like maybe a clinic. Or even your surgeons office. Maybe the nurse there can help. Hopefully after they just got so much money from you they will help you out if you explain the situation to them. It may be that your body is cleaning house so to speak as well. I know that when I started having them again after going on BC mine kinda did that. Really heavy and extended. I am a 4 day cycle girl and mine has gone to like a week. Hope any of this helps. Good luck.
Hugs,
Melissa
Hi Beth like the others said call your doc as soon as you can, but if it makes you feel better I was kind of in the same situation period wise until I got the RNY, now I'm getting my period like clockwork every month, the first month was kind of weird because I got my period twice in the same month but as time goes by it's getting better, I was diagnosed last year with PCOS, most of us that are obese according to my Gyno, have it, most of the time has no symptoms except your periods become very irregular and you stop ovulating all together, so after the RNY I went in because I would go month without it and he said it was normal, that my body was just trying to adjust to the hormone changes, and that all the weight I've lost will hopefully improve my PCOS, like I said go to the MD when u can but I wouldn't worry so much if I were you, you gotta remember that our bodies just went through a major surgery and they are still trying to adapt to everything going on.
Good luck!!
