Saving time and money...life rocks!

Hi All, Week before last, I had a massage. A few days ago, I had a facial. Today, I had a nice shopping trip to The Body Shop. And I stopped to ask myself: how?? Where is the money coming from? I haven't treated myself this well since before my diagnosis of diabetes two years ago! Even before that - all these treats in the same month? Well, here it is: less food! I'm buying groceries, good food, but I am not eating meals out. No junk food. No take out or delivery! No stopping at the convenience store on the way home every day. Also - no diabetes meds to pay for!!! No Cymbalta, for anxiety, which I have recently quit. Walking instead of buses. Walking or bus instead of cabs. And Time! I am saving Time! I didn't realize how much time being unhealthy wasted! I used to take a slow bus downtown rather than the el, because I was terrified that one day I wouldn't be able to squeeze through the turnstile. Now, I take the el. I used to plan, do I need a cab? which bus will get me closest to where I need to go? How long will it take me to walk from here to there? Now...I just GO! Now, I still have a lot of weight to lose, but I already feel like I have a new body. It's a wonderful feeling. Life is good and I can only see it getting better. Lisa

lisa, good for you!!! you sound so happy. i can't make the support group meeting again tonight. i have the worst sore throat and earache. that's what i get for celebrating chanukah with all of my neices and nephews on saturday night. it was well worth the pain though, i love spending time with the little ones. now i just need to get better before i go and share my germs with my side of the family on christmas day!! i hope you have a great holiday. it sure sounds like you are on your way to one! fondly, patricia

I don't think I could have said it better myself. - We have extra money and time popping up all over the place thanks to this surgery. - Our grocery bill has been cut almost in HALF. - There is no longer wasted food just thrown away. - EVERYONE is getting thinner and healthier not just me. - We park at the FAR ends of the parking lots now cuz its FUN to walk to the store now. - We do eat out probably as much now as before BUT its at REAL restaurants instead of fast food junk food places. I second that life is good! *huggles* Felicia =)
