Ever since my surgery when i have my 'monthly friend' if you will, my cramps have been a million times worse, i get them abou two weeks prior to even starting, and during this time it feels like someone is trying to snap my spine in half, it feels the same way in my tummy... i try to take tylenol but it won't budge them.. any suggestions ???

I so feel for you. I cant wait to get back on the pill in January and get RID of having cramps every freaking month... They are just killer! Can you talk to your PCP about getting an RX for something stronger? I have also heard that a ho****er bottle will help ( doesn't for me ). Tylenol is a joke but I do find that the liquid or the go tabs ( what little they do ) work faster then the pills. Sorry not much advice there. I feel for you though. *huggles* Felicia

no help here. i just wish i would get my period. i had skipped about 6 months... then got it again regularly for about three months, then had my surgery in oct., and haven't had one since. and yes, i definitely know that i am not pregnant. my grandmother always said that "sweeping", as in "with a broom" was the best way to get rid of cramps. i tried it a few times when i was younger and suffered, and it did help. feel better, patricia

I hear ya. I have had the worst cramps. I was an 4 advil every 4 hours girl before sugery but now that we can not have advil I am stuck with tylenol. I know it works like crap but it is really all we have. I haev to admit that the 1st night that Ihad them so bad I split one of my pain killers that I had left over and took a bit just so I could sleep. Can not do that all the time though. I am going to ask the pcp about it as well. The other old wives thing that my Mom said to do that does work is to get on all fours with you behind in the air. I know sounds strange and twisted but it does help. I hope you feel better. I am on the tail end of it so I am very very very happy. I am on the pill but that does not seem to help mine Hugs, Melissa

Actually that position does help with cramps. It is a child birthing position to help in reducing labor pains. There is one other thing that you might want to try. At least back when I suffered from cramps it worked for me.... have sex. It causes the usterine area to contract so that it conteracts the cramps. Best of luck. Aime

I tried Tylenol extra strength but it did nothing for me. My surgeon prescribed Darvacet and that helped a lot. You need to be careful when taking it as it is a narcotic. Elizabeth
