Hi All, I'm going food shopping tomorrow...well, I guess it's today now! Anyhow, has anyone tried any of the following yet since surgery? * pickles (the yummy kind from the deli) * figs * polenta * spinach (cooked) * goat cheese * roasted red peppers * tomatoes (raw) And did it go down well? Any problems? Thanks! Lisa

Lisa, * pickles (the yummy kind from the deli) - I have tried dill cut up in things and it has been fine * figs - have not tried but making a sauce to go over pork with them for Christmas * polenta - Have not tried but I would think it would be like cream of wheat which I have tried and it went fine. * spinach (cooked) - have tried and it went fine * goat cheese - Have not tried - not before surgery either * roasted red peppers - Have tried in things and went fine * tomatoes (raw) - Deffinetely tried and they were great. I just made sure they were chopped really small so the skins were small as they are hard to get chewed small. I eat them mixed with some avacado and garlic powder, salt, pepper, lemon juice over cottage cheese..mmmmm YUM! Hope that helps...let me know how the figs and the goat cheese go. I have never tried goat cheese only because I have never had the occasion to. Hugs, Melissa

Hi, Lisa! I LOVE tomatoes. I have had Roma and grape and haven't had a problem with either and I have some sort of tomato everyday. The only thing about pickes is that the sodium is sky high, but otherwise they should be ok since it is basically a marinated cucumber. When I eat cucumber though, I get the seedless ones, so I would be wary of the seeds too. Good luck and happy shopping!

I eat deli pickles as a special treat if I have had all my protein for the day - only a bite. Also, I remove the skin and just eat the inner portion.

* pickles - haven't tried these yet. I did have a bit in the tuna I ate that didn't agree with me but I still think it was the tuna not the pickles. They make a great Bread & Butter Pickle that is made with splenda to. My son eats them like candy lolol. * figs - We only get the fresh here once a year so I haven't tried them. The dried ones would scare the toots out of me though since they concentrate down so far sugar wise. * polenta - haven't tried this but I would say its the same basic thing as like grits and I ate them just fine for weeks. * spinach (cooked) - yup was yum! * goat cheese - nope but if you were going to either take very small bites or mix it with something I don't see why it would be a problem. I wouldn't try and eat a hunk of it though could ball up... * roasted red peppers - YES Love these darn things. I put them in a lot of things. * tomatoes (raw) - daily. I have Roma Tomatoes, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese salad at least once a day these days lol. I also have made the sundried out of left over fresh ones and they were awesomely yummy snacks. * olives - nope but then I am not a big olive eater. Have fun!! *huggles* Felicia =)

Thank you all very much for your responses! I saw my surgeon and nutritionist today. My nut. didn't think I would be able to handle pickles and raw tomatoes because of the skin, because I am having a very hard time keeping meat and fish down yet. I held off getting them, as I'm sick to death of sitting down to eat good food and having to get rid of it because it's not working out. I'll try them next month. Got the r.r. peppers, goat cheese, spinach though! Didn't see polenta. Or figs. Got olives!! Whole Foods is the greatest market! Lisa
