Wedding Anniversary on Thursday
Hi everyone!!
I need help. My wedding anny is on Thursday and my dear darling sweet wonderful hubby wants to take me out to eat to celebrate. Now, this is our normal tradition except in the past he has picked the place to go. This year, he says I can pick as I have food issues now.
My problem is...other than Taco Bell and Wendy's I don't know where to go that I can actually eat something and keep it down!! Any ideas? Who has been out to eat at a restaurant and had a good experience? Where did you go and what did you try?
I've got to give him an answer soon....although I'm hoping to talk him into a movie and looking at Christmas lights instead and me just cooking at home. NEVER thought I'd say THAT for my anniversary!!!!
Susan
I vote Movie and Christmas Lights. If he is letting you pick then tell him you pick your cooking and a night on the town!! Do you have some place you can take like a picnic and sit in the car and watch the lights?
The only place I have eaten besides Wendy's has been AppleBee's and if its a special occasion like you are talking of that is NOT where I would want to go lolol.
Happy Almost Here Anniversary!!!!!!!!!
Ours is in March. I am hoping to be a LOT smaller and more confident in myself enough to actually go OUT to a restaurant for our anniversary!

Hee hee Felicia... If only it were that easy. He really wants to go out to eat. Especially since we don't go out often anymore due to #1 my surgery and #2 me quitting my job. So, going to eat will be a special event for him.
And, due to #2 above, the fact that we have 4 kids and it's Christmas time, Applebee's in actually in our price range. We really can't afford to go to a REALLY nice restaurant at this point. We are still adjusting to one income.
So, what did you have at AppleBee's? I'm interested.
BTW, I'm sure that when March gets here you will be ready to go out and have a great time on your anny.
Susan
OH no I wasn't thinking not AppleBee's for cost ( cheap or expensive ) they just didn't seem to have many choices is all lol. I only have one kid but I still hear you about the price range. MAN stuff is not cheap these days is it. Just terrible.
Anyways lets see what have I had from there...
We mostly split meals so you kind of have to keep that in mind...
Taken from the site so I could remember the names lol : http://www.applebees.com/
SPINACH & ARTICHOKE DIP
SHRIMP 'N PARMESAN SIRLOIN
HOUSE SIRLOIN & ROASTED GARLIC & ASIAGO CHICKEN ( to DIE for! )
CAJUN LIME TILAPIA
They all went down really well.
I LOVE their take out containers lol I use them to pot baby plants in and bulbs lmaooo
Cant wait to hear what you guys decide and how it goes!!

Thanks for the menu ideas! AppleBee's is one of my favorite places to eat, just haven't been there in ages. And, really, I almost always ordered the steak. It was my favorite. Now, there is NO WAY I could eat it all...but maybe I could have a small cut off of hubby's if he ordered it... and do an appetizer for me again....IF they have anything WLS friendly, that is.
Oh...and YES, everything is expensive for kids these days. Especially when they start getting older. My oldest is 14, youngest is 8, but turns 9 in January, so they all want things that cost $$$$. Oh well. They are all getting one semi-pricey item from their lists that they REALLY wanted and then some other lesser things. The older ones truly understand why and the little ones are happy as long as they have stuff under the tree. Thank goodness.

Growing up I remember big piles of presents till we were like 9 or 10 and then we got to pick out 1 expensive thing and then Mom always filled the stockings with goodies lol ok and underwear and socks roflmaoo Christmas seems to change as we got older. But it does come back around when we become parents lolol. I think I am the bigger kid now then my 6 year old.

Applebees has been our mainstay since my surgery. They do have the Weigh****chers menu - which helps.
I typically order the Terryakki (sp?) shrimp skewers, ask them to hold the rice. So I get a nice plate of shrimp and broccoli (you may need to ask them to steam the broccoli past the tender crisp stage for you and is usually is very crunchy). I usually end up w/ several meals from this.
This weekend was a celebration weekend for my boyfriend and I - so I ordered the steak skewers instead (same set up w/ the hold the rice...etc). It required more "sauce" to get it down - so to keep the sugar count down, I asked for A-1 sauce on the side - worked well.
I have to admit that hubby and I go out to eat pretty frequently. He loves to eat out and since we both eat so little it is pretty affordable for us since we take home the rest and it lasts for days!
We have not had issues going anywhere at all. There is always a soup on the menu that we can eat. Even french onion was his fav early on as the cheese on the top was good protein and the broth was a wonderful flavor taste. When I go out now I order off the app menu and or I get a shrimp or fish dish. One good place is olive garden believe it or not. They have several chicken dishes if you are good with chicken. Also they have a great soup selection. That was one of out favs till people got sick there as well. Anywho most places will have a fish dish these days and shrimp is usually always on the menu as well. I know the olive garden shrimp scampi is sooooo yummy and settles nicely.
Have a very happy anniversary and I hope you have a wonderful time! You have A LOT to celebrate this year!

Thanks Melissa!!
Olive Garden is one of my FAVORITE places to eat....and again, another place I haven't been in a long time....usually because the wait is so long we go somewhere else. LOL
MMMMmmmmm I LOVE french onion soup, but have been afraid to try it. Although I've been able to eat sauteed onions without any problems.
What's this about people getting sick on their soup? I haven't heard about that....
My favorite thing at OG is their chicken parmesean. But, I'm sort of afraid to try it with the regular cheese on top. I have a tendency to get sick if it's not reduced fat cheese.
Thanks for the ideas!!! If we go here I may have to try one of their soups....or the shrimp.
