One Leg TWO DAYS!

I can NOT get over the eating changes since surgery. Hubby brought home ONE Alaskan King Crab leg for me on Friday. It was basically a small part of the body and the distance between the body and the first joint. It has lasted me FOUR meals over TWO days!!! Pre surgery I would not have even bought one since I KNEW that there was no way I would be "satisfied" with only ONE dinky little leg lolol and there was no way I could afford to buy what I "thought" it would take to "fill" me up.... Now I can barely get through 1 leg in a whole weekend!!!!! The first month out I never thought I would be sitting here almost 11 weeks out to the day saying this: " I LOVE THIS SURGERY! " Just had to share lol. *huggles* Felicia =)

It is INSANE how much our food bill has dropped in the last 2 months even WITH having to buy all this protein stuff. Its crazy! I never knew what a pig I was lol. I was laughing at hubby tonight that there are 2 bags of Frito's STILL on the shelf after a WEEK! When was the last time that happened lololol. I love seafood but I never knew how good it could taste till I was eating it for taste and not for quantity! *HUGS* Felicia =)

Felicia! I just noticed we are WLS twins!! I had surgery on the 2nd also. I can't identify with the first month thing as mine went by very well. I'm actually having more problems now that I'm able to eat a bigger variety of food. But, I still LOVE the surgery and wouldn't trade it for the way things were EVER! Susan

Hey cool! I didn't even notice that. Yup 1st month SUCKED! About week 6 I started for not regret so much lolol. But I wanted to wake up pre surgery just about daily for the 1st 4 weeks lol. I lived on Mashed Potatoes and Refried beans for a month cuz I didn't like anything pureed. Once I went on to solids I was in heaven and bounced back fast. Now I just have a problem coming up with new things to try *grin*. *huggles* Felicia =)

Oh yeah....getting to eat "real" food was wonderful. I was so happy when my surgeon finally let me eat again. I was so ready to be able to CHEW my food. Now, like you, I have problems coming up with new things to eat. So I am constantly reading cookbooks, looking for recipes on-line and watching Food Network. In the end, I usually end up reworking one of my recipes making it a bit more friendly for me and still tasty for the rest of the family. Keeps me from eating left overs of the same thing for a week. Since you've been sending all the shrimp recipes, I think that will be on my grocery list this week. Thanks for all the ideas! Susan

I love shrimp and fish recipes cuz I can use the meat right out of the freezer with out to much thawing lol. AND I only have to cook then for me cuz the guys aren't to keen on them lol. This week I have to get back in gear and cook for the guys so its going to be chicken. I have the best time looking though cook books and twisting them to work for me lol. I am always up for a challenge *grin*. *huggles* Felicia =)

I love shrimp too...but then, so does everyone else at my house and that can get expensive with teen age boys appetites. So, I usually go with a cheaper meat like chicken for our dinner meals. However, I might start making shrimp for me at lunch and try some of these wonderful recipes you've sent out! I'm looking forward to your recipes this week with chicken. Susan
