Two "Firsts"
Hi All!
I just came back from three nights in Cape May, NJ. For anyone who doesn't know Cape May, it's a beautiful Victorian seashore town in southern NJ. It was all done up for the holidays and looked like a fairytale village. I went MAD with shopping! Went out to the ocean a few times to commune with Nature. And I walked miles and miles.
My first "first"...I went on vacation and lost weight! I was gone three days and lost two pounds. Normally, I'd gain three times that!
My second "first"...I went into an Asian restaurant that serves Chinese, Japaese, and Thai foods. I love Thai. I thought I might be able to eat a couple pieces of a chicken dish and could bring the rest with me.
While I was waiting for my meal, the waiter brought me out those delicious fried noodles with the duck sauce to munch on...and I...I asked him to take it away!!! I never ever thought I would do that! I love those things and in the past needed no prompting to eat them all. They were the wide, light, good kind too. I sent them away!
I've been dying to share that with people who would understand...glad you're all here.
By the way, I was talking with the manager there, who seemed very concerned that I wasn't eating much, and when I talked about WLS, she said she had other customers who'd had it. Most, she said, were doing great with it, but one woman wasn't losing as much and was always sick. She didn't know what had gone wrong...
She then continued, "She gets half way through her eggroll and has to run to the bathroom. Then when she tries to eat her noodles, she gets sick again."
Um...noodles? Eggroll? Gee, I think I can tell you what's gone wrong there! Makes me more grateful than ever for my excellent nutritionist.

Thanks, Beth!
The chicken...I was able to eat a very little bit. Then I was up and walking again, and it went down well. When I tried to eat a little more for dinner later, my stomach didn't want anything to do with it!
Cape May is great in winter. And they really know how to do the December holidays down there. This was only my second trip there; my first was for my birthday last Feb. I am planning to go again in late April/early May.

What an awesome time! Sounds like you had a great time. I will have to ask hubby about that place. Maybe a place to visit for us. Wow never been tempted by those noodles. What an awesome feeling though that you had to problem sending them away!!!
Wow there is no way that I could eat an eggrole. Just the thought of trying make me queeeeeeezy. Wow maybe the lady at the restaurant will tell her customer about you and what you had and did good with. Maybe you will be an inspiration.
I am so glad you had such a great time!!!
Hugs,
Melissa
Good for you on refusing the little snack. I have found that asian foods are so easy for me to eat. The meats are usually very tender. I think it is important that we stay away from the usual sweet sauces that many would order normally. WLS is a good time to try some of the other excellant dishes. Sorry General Tso....
