Unsure...

Yesterday I had a 3 month (actually 2 1/2 month) check up and the nurse lady was different and she said that I needed to tell the doctor of the lack of eating proteins in my diet. She was kind of rude and it made me start to feel like I was going to cry. I did my best on this to work it out within me. Doctor came in was a little on the harder side (he did mellow out some when I started to explain) that maybe the reason that I do not try new things is the fear of and he understood that but wanted me to try again and he scheduled me for a scope to check for a stricture. He thinks that I might have a small one due to the fact that some things go down just fine and other times they do not go so well. I was advised by there nurse staff early out that taking benadryl will help with the foamie spits as this is what I have been having. I cried all the way home from the office, it just hit me wrong and even as I write this I feel the same feelings all over again. Hubby did not understand why I was so upset and I come not give him a real reason either. I do not like getting sick...I eat basically what you eat at around 1 month post op and really do not tolerate the other things. I have gotten sick the past 3 nights after dinner. He says that I can not live like this and by 6 months I should be tolerating everything within reason. Am I just over reacting and this will help? I just needed to vent as I really am not sure what to do but I am feeling very depressed today about all of this. Deanne

Deanne, I had my surgery on Oct. 25th and I am still not able to eat soft foods. I have gone back on the liquid diet for the fifth time in three weeks. Just as I think I am doing better, I get so sick. I have been living on yogurts, cottage cheese, and jello. I tried the beans and got sick, tried the peas and got sick and even got sick on cream of soups. I force the protein down. But, on the bright side, I am losing over a pound a day, so I guess that is good.

I am the same way so this is why he is doing the scope. They just called about it and it is next Wed the 20th at 1:45 pm. Kind of nervous but in the same token relieved to be getting it done so if there is a problem I can get it fixed now and not have problems later on. I can drink water and take the protein just fine it is all the rest of the stuff that I have problems with.

Deanne, I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I'm glad that you are getting it checked out. I get sic****asionally (quite less than I did the first month) and every time I think "Oh no, I have a stricture!!" But from what I hear, if that's the case, then at least they can fix it right then and you'll be fine. I would be upset too if the doc and nurse both came down on me. They shouldn't assume that there is no good reason you haven't been able to get in your protein. I hope you get to feeling better soon!! ~Blessings~ Halona 313/268/150

Deanne, I am so sorry that you are having a rough time. Hubby did as well and he was fine. He had the same symptoms of you but our surgeon did not seem worried and said that some people just deal differently than others. It is good that they are doing the scope however if nothing else than to give you peace of mind. It is good to know and after all they are the ones swho know what they are doing. I hope you start to feel better soon and keep us advised how you are. Chin up! Melissa

Thanks everyone. I really do not feel bad it is just after I eat that I start to feel like it is going to come back up and thenit does. I did well last night and did not feel like I was going to get sick after I ate the broiled fish that I cooked for dinner (YEAH!!!). I hope that it is nothing but if there is they will fix it when I am in there. Today I am feeling better about this but still there is a lot of what if's. Thanks again for the support...I needed it!! YIPPIE! Glad to hear the fish went down so well!! I had tilapia last night that I poached in wine with a "cream" wine sauce over it. OMG it was so good it was hard to stop when full lol. *huggles* Felicia =)

Well I kind of made it up... Ok here is pretty much what I did... (measurements will be your own tastes) I put enough wine to cover 2 filet's of tilapia in a sauce type pan (doesn't need to be very deep about an inch or so). Then I put in herbs that I thought sounded good. Dill, Basil, Fresh Oregano, Fresh Lemon Thyme, parsley and some dried lemon peel. I also put a 1/4ish of a white sweet onion chopped up and 2 large cloves of garlic. Brought that up to a simmer and plopped the filet's in there. Cooked them, turning them once till tender. Was super quick so don't walk away from them. Then I took the fish out of the wine and brought it up to a rolling boil and reduced it by half. Then I added a little bit of half & half and continued to boil it till it had reduced down just a bit more ( mine sort of broke but I didn't care since it was getting all whisked up and dumped over the fish anyways lol ). Lastly right before I though it was done ( no set time just cook it for a bit ) I added a bit of Parmesan cheese to thicken it up. I pulled out the stems from the fresh oregano and lemon thyme and poured it into a little container. Them put my portion of fish on a plate, added a bit of sauce to the top and down it went. It re heated great to since I have been eating it for the last couple days lol. Basically you just kind of make it up yourself with your own tastes. Even if you don't drink wine its SO AWESOME to cook with ( and the booze cooks off anyways lol ). Hope that some what made sense. *huggles* Felicia =)
