How do you answer this question? Or I mean where do YOU start from? Do you count from your highest? Do you count from your start of WLS Journey? Do you count from the 1st day of your liquid diet? Do you count from Surgery day? Where do you count from when you say "I have lost much" ? I know for me when I am on the boards I count from surgery day but when I am "out in the world" I count from my highest. *huggles* Felicia

I was counting from surgery day but when I went to my surgeons office he counted from the weight that I was at my first concultation. Granted there was only a 4 lb difference between that and what I was on surgery day (they were only a month apart). I have been counting from my initial consultation with him. We did not have a liquid diet to do before hand or anything so I do not have that to compare to. To me I would count from my highest. Surgery or not I have worked hard to get where I am. So be it from diet or surgery I choose to count by my highest. PLUS>>>>>>> that way there is a greater loss of my end as well. That is just my 2cents. I am interested to see what others do as well. Hubby and I were just talking about this last night. Someone asked me the other day how much I had lost and I had to think on how to answer since it wasn't specific about how much I had lost since surgery... From my highest I am down over 108lbs but from surgery I am only down 40lbs. Like you said I worked hard for the 68 lbs I lost before surgery so they should count just as much lol. Its a hard one. I see people all the time saying "I lost 50 or 60lbs " and I am like OMG how did they do that... then you read a little while later that, that included pre op liquid diet weight loss to or something like that lol. So I am finding that before I freak out to myself about not losing as much as the others to see where they are "counting from" before I start to worry. Mine would go something like this : From Highest : -108lbs From Start of WLS journey : -63lbs From Start of New WLS Surgeon Journey lol : -55lbs From Start of 2 week liquid diet : -59lbs and From Surgery Day : -40lbs Gosh guess it could be very confusing lmao lol But frankly I like the loss since my highest *grin*. *huggles* Felicia

You have done soooo well. What a journey. My hubby counts from his preop too. Like I said it is tough because we did not have any kind of preop diet except the fleet crap the day before. So that was really all. I just now I was happy to have lost 24 in my 1st week of surgery. Hubby is down 90 as of this morning and I think he really could care less where he counts from. SOOO I am hoping that when I am down 90 I will not really care about a pound or two. Your loss since your highest is amazing and you are a great inspiration! Melissa

HEHEHEHE I didn't have to do the fleet stuff *grin*. I actually didn't mind to much the liquid diet (especially when I dropped 19 lbs in 2 weeks on it LOLOL) . Of course back then I lOVED my protein shakes so it was a treat *grin*. Thanks so much!! You are just so sweet!! *huggles* Felicia =)

I count from my pre-op appt when I was weighed at the surgeons office. This was also my highest weight that I have documentation of. I may have gone even higher between the pre-op appt and before starting my liquid diet, because of all of my last suppers, but I never stepped on the scale again until the day of my surgery. My pre-op appt was 2 weeks before my surgery. When I got on the scale the day of my surgery, I was already down 8 lbs from the liquid diet. When I went to the surgeons office 5 days after my surgery I was down another 7 lbs....15 in a week. I count all of that because I lost it because of the surgery, be it liquid diet to prep or the actual surgery. If you dieted before the surgery, I would count that, too. You did that because of the surgery, therefore lost the weight on this WLS journey. Just my 2 cents.

I had 2 "first" surgeon visits lol But I see what you are saying. Hey great job on the weight loss on the pre op liquid diet!! That was great!! I guess if someone just asks me how much have I lost I will say from my highest but if they ask me that and mention the surgery I will tell them from my first Surgeon appointment cuz your right that is all part of the WLS process! *huggles* Felicia =)
