Dry heaves anyone??
OK I am for some reason almost embarassed to ask if anyone else has this. I guess maybe because I worry something may be wrong. Everday. No matter what I eat and or do not eat I have the dry heaves. I have not yet ever actually thrown anything up but I seem to get the dry heaves. Like right now I feel like I am going to throw up. Yet alas nothing has come up and Ihave not eaten since 10 this morning. I have watched it in relation to something I have eaten and or not eaten and it does not correspond with anything. It is not fun at all and I am ready for it to end. My hubby did not go through this at all with his surgery so we are at a loss for advice. the only thing that maybe I can figure out is it is from air. I am drinking and eating slowly and at my last Dr. apt the day before turkey day I asked about all the burping I was doing and he said that at this point even when I was breathing or doing anything I was gettinng air in my stomach so that waqs nothign to worry about. I was not doing the dry heave thing at that time so I did not ask. I have a call in to ask about it but they are not good with calling back usually very fast. It is just no fun and seems to be putting a damper on things at an increasing rate. It hits a lot in the early morning and then in the evening but also during the day sometimes. I know the 1st thing someone is going to ask is if I am pregnant but I know I am not due to a very recent cycle and also got tested when I had my kidney stone last week. This have been going on for two weeks or so now and it is getting old really fast.
Has anyone else had this?? HELP!!!

NAHHHHHHHHHHHH don't be embarrassed of anything you ask here. We are all family remember!!
I have no advice for you since I haven't run into this but maybe it is just air. I know sometimes I get that over ate feeling of pain in my tummy when I am not paying attention and swallow air. Don't laugh I cant help it lol. But not the feeling of the heaves. If the food was coming back up I would say maybe a stricture but I am no expert in those either. Hope the surgeon has some ideas for ya.

Melissa,
I've only had the dry heaves once, from peanut butter. It finally came up, but I thought my stomach was going to come up first! I do get nauseated after most meals, though. I am trying to eat as slowly as possible, even though I thought I was eating slowly to begin with.
My only suggestion would be to stay on your surgeon's butt until you get a proper response. Call every hour if you have to...you're not just the patient, you're the customer!
