Ok in the search for something that is "snacky" I remembered from my Atkins days this trick with Pepperoni that you put some slices on a plate and microwaved them till crisp. So I though hmmmmmmmmmmmmm why couldn't you do that with Canadian bacon slices ( since the Pepperoni now gives me heart burn and its higher in fat). SO I popped 3 slices of Canadian Bacon on a paper plate, covered it with a paper towel and nuked it for a min. they edges were cooked but still soft in the middle. So I went for another minute. PERFECT!! Now ok they are not crispy crispy like tator chips but hey they still have a crunch and best of all they are 98% fat free AND have almost 3 grams of protein PER SLICE! My tip for the day LOLOL. *huggles* Felicia =) Oh and did I mention THEY STAYED DOWN!! lol

It does intensify the salty a bit but nothing over powering. Woudl be good after crisped up to add a touch of cheese to the top and melt also! Felicia =)

Or you can just go out and get some Glenny's Soy Crisps which come in several flavors and TASTE DELICIOUS! One 1.5 ounce bag yields 9 grams of protein 140 cals and 18 grams of carbs. 3 grams fiber. They taste yummy with some cheddar chesse pieces, makes me feel like I'm eating crackers and cheese and TOTALLY satisfies my chip/salty cravings without the guilt. www.glennys.com

Sound yummy!! I always have Canadian Bacon on hand though so for me it would be at the ready all the time when I wanted a crunchy snack lol plus 4 slices is under 1 carb which for me is a huge plus cuz I am always trying to watch my processed food carbs. Thanks for the link!! I will check them out. *hugs* Felicia

I will have to try these for my hubby. I try to stay away from too much soy as it does not agree with my thyroid meds. He has been craving salty snacks though so this should be great. Thanks, Melissa

Just another thought on the whole snacky craving thing. I read on the main message board today about pork rinds. Someone said they were not a good source of protein by themselves but if you combine it with a protein such as some cheese then it also counts for protein. I know when I did the atkinds thing I loved them with ranch dressing. I am not sure if the ranch would count for a protein though but that is just another thought on the non carb snacky thing. Just a thought. Melissa

Some people ground up the pork rinds and use them to "bread" chicken and fish. I don't like pork rinds so I won't use them for anything Elizabeth
