Scared of food?
I think I am this way as well. I did try 1 slice of toast last night and did did fine did not eat the crust though as I was not sure about that one. I just get so frustrated with what I can and can not have that it makes me confused and what goes down all right is different everyday. I still to plain and really nothing fancy for what I eat. I hope things get better for you. Everyday is a learning experience.

What kind of bread did you use? I tried whole grain and it was heavy so haven't tried it again and I don't buy white bread ( although at this point if it will go down I will buy it lol). I to am confused on what to eat or not eat. It always seems like such a huge chore and frankly most days I just want to bag it and have a shake instead lol. Not good I know but you know my point I am sure.

YES YES YES! That is exactly what happened. I told him "You just pick you know its not worth me choosing". But he never will pick GRRRRR so we ended up eating out at the frig instead lol. OMGosh DUH ME I never thought about making a sandwich and TOASTING the bread. SHEESH I am so stuck in the box. What a brilliant idea!!! I am going to try that! I also had a couple Frito chips the other day and had no problem but when I went to order a Taco all the posts I had read came back at me that said "I ordered a soft shell" and so I ordered the soft shell. WHICH I hate anyways but thought it was, what I was supposed to do. IT WAS BAD! I will try the hard shell next time. I will have to find the Flat-Out things. That sounds good to.
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*super big hugs to you*

I know, this "trial and error" thing with food is very annoying! But I am lucky in that there isn't much I want that I haven't tried since I don't have too varied of a diet. So far I can not eat soft tortillas or scrambled eggs and there are some breads I can't do.
For sandwiches, these are my suggestions:
1. Go to the bakery in the grocery store or a local bakery and have them slice the bread for you on the thinest setting and toast the bread before you eat it. If there is a whole foods near you, they have the BEST bread, they slice it VERY thin, and will give you half the loaf if you ask.
2. Eat the sandwich open faced (Bread on the bottom only)
3. Get "flatbread" (its like a big cracker, sort of like Melba Toast but thinner). These are my favorite option becasue they don't go bad as quickly as bread, so you don't have to throw any out. Wholefoods has a great selection.
4. Buy melba toast. Nutrisystem has a decent one. Its $.26 per pack / serving and you can order it al a carte so you don't have to order a plan.
For veggies / fibrous items, try Beano liquid. It works wonders for me!
I was telling hubby last night that I LOVE the portion control. Its EXACTLY what I wanted. But even though I knew it would be hard at first I had NO CLUE it would be THIS hard just to eat period.
Whole Foods - is that like organic etc? We have a Good Earth Market here that I like to shop at but its across town so I dont do it often. But I will sure check it out if thats what you mean for bread. I love good bread. I will also look for those flat bread things. Sounds perfect and also the melba toast. Great ideas!!
Thanks so much!!
OH and I LOVE BEANO! lol Its my new best friend.

Hi Felicia -
Whole Foods is an organic market, and I have heard of Good Earth and, although I have never been to one, I beleive it is a very similar place. The flat bread is near the cheesemonger in my store, so I would start there, and if you don't find it, I'd ask an employee. Just explain that it isn't the flatbread that is like a pizza crust, but it is the flatbread that is like a long cracker. When I get home, I will look to see the name of what I have and repost, and you may be able to order online.
BTW, I forgot an additional plus to the flat bread - its is half the carbs of regular bread because the serving size is 4 pieces, but we are only able to eat 2 pieces - so total carb is 9 grams. YAY!
Oh, Felicia, do I ever understand!
The only thing I feel sure about any more is this veggie soup from a place across the street, which I order mostly broth. What's really bad is that foods that went down well for me two weeks ago are no longer staying down. When I'm out, foods will smell so good to me, but when I look at them, I feel sick! I've tried foods that other people at OH have mentioned as working well and that are on my nutritionist's list, but with no luck...string cheese...peanut butter (the worst reaction yet!)...it makes me afraid to try anything!
I feel like I'm going to live the rest of my life on veggie soup and water!
Wish I had some advice, but I'm right there with you.
Lisa
Well the bright side of all this is that at least we are not alone. I don't know what I would do with out this board. Its just wonderful having so many friends going through the same things at the same times. *HUGS*
As for peanut butter and string cheese - they didn't like me so much either. They went down but not happily. Now cheddar and Monterey's jack cheese sticks go down just fine *shrug* go figure lol.
