Scared of food?

I NEVER in my life thought I would say this but I am scared of food. I am sitting here trying to figure out something for dinner. Hubby emailed and said "Order it I will pick it up". Meaning all I have to do is pick something out. PROBLEM! I bet I have looked at over 25 menus in the last hour. EVERYTHING looks yummy but nothing makes me want to "risk" it. Its been that way for the last couple of days. I know I am hungry but just cant face dealing with the "what if" of will it go down well, will it stay down... Things have been going down ok but its so frustrating. The trial and error. And then there is the "want" to just sit down and eat like a normal person. Just ONE bite of a sandwich would be heaven but then I know that the bread would kick my butt. Tried to have a soft shelled taco the other night. WRONG!!!!!!!! I know it was the shell that got me good. Not I find that its just easier to just not eat then to bother with trying to figure out what to eat next. I am so in a runt with foods cuz I just dont want to venture out anymore to new foods. Chili & shrimp thats what I eat period. I wonder if this will get better or will I always have this new found fear of food. Ugg probably not saying this right but anyways thanks for reading. Felicia

I know what you mean. It is hard trying new things or going out to eat. I try to look for something on the menu that is mostly pouch friendly and can be dissected. Saturday I went out to lunch at Applebees with some friends and I got some kind of seasoned chicken wrap-thing. I asked for it without the lettuce and when it came I just emptied the insides on to my plate and put the tortilla on a napkin. I had lunch at friend's house after church and she served cheese and veggie lasagna's. I disected them and at the cheese and veggies and left the pasta alone. I didn't have any problems. My friend knows I have some dietary restrictions and will ask if I can eat something or not. She doesn't get offended when I pick apart my food. Elizabeth

I was just sitting here looking at the Applebee's menu, go figure lol. I saw lots of yummy looking things. Hubby is so good about buying something that we can share so its not a waste. I dont know just frustrated today. It used to be so easy to go out to eat. Look at the menu and pick anything that tickles your fancy. Now its like..hmmm breading nope thats out, raw veggies, nope thats out, rice nope thats out, hmmm will the chicken go down and stay there? What about the steak? Mostly just want to try something DIFFERENT. And that seems to be the hardest part. I dont know. Just a downer/frustrating food day I guess. Thanks for the reply! *hugs* Felicia

My Boyfriend and I just went to Applebee's... I got the Confetti Chicken from the weigh****cher's menu and it was excellent. I asked for no rice and asked for the mixed veggies instead of the broccoli since the mixed veggies had softer squashes and grean beans. It was really good and a pretty small portion - it was also low cal and low fat. I was able to eat about 3/4 of it and then my BF ate the rest. It sucked to pay full price, but at least we didn't have to throw anything away

I had a mozzarella stick from TGI Friday's today and I only ate the cheese on the inside. There are some foods that I can scrape the breading off of. Elizabeth

(((((Felicia))))) So sorry that you are feeling this way. DH asks me what I want for dinner and I say "YOU PICK! I can only eat a few bites anyways, so get something and I will try it." No sense in them planning around us. A couple of things you might try...if you haven't yet...I read somewhere that Toast goes down better than regular bread. Doesn't get stuck as easily. I made a 1/2 sandwich last week with turkey and bacon and it was YUMMY!!! Went down great. I have also tried a corn tortilla, instead of a flour tortilla. I felt the texture would be easier to swallow and it seemed OK. I've had them the past two days and it was great. A chicken taco. They package said 50 calories for 2 tortillas...25 calories per tortilla. Can't beat that. I also had a mini Flat-Out and made a wrap out of that OK. Hope you can find some new things to try.

Okay I do not do sugar free catsup, mayo, etc. I have the real thing. Of course, I do not eat sugar and I do watch the sugar content in foods. But with the corn tortillas which I love, are you frying them in butter because I would want to but with very little butter and are you able to eat a whole corn tortilla? I had my surgery a week before you and wish I could eat a whole one.

I don't do sugar free catsup or mayo either...well, I do light mayo. I watch my sugar contents, too. I have not fried the tortilla's that I have had. I did the microwave method and warming them and wrapped a tortilla in a wet paper towel and heated for 15 seconds. My Aunt warms hers directly on her burner. I REALLY miss my sisters fried corn tortilla shelled tacos. I loved mexican night at my sisters. She would fry hers in vegetable oil. This week, I was able to eat a whole tortilla. They are so small. Maybe 4" or 5" in diameter. Would you be able to fry them in butter flavored Pam? Let me know if you try them and how you do with them. Enjoy!!!
