Trip to the ER.....Unbearable pain!

Ooh my goodness. I have the worst pain today I have ever experienced. I took a nap and when I woke up my right side hurt a little but within minutes it was so bad I could barely stand up. I took some tylenol thinking maybe it was cramps being that it is that time but it got worse and worse. Not any better at all. I called the doc he said to come in so my hubby came home and took me. Well a long story short and after a trip to the ER I now know what a kidney stone feels like. It is truly the worst pain I have ever felt and care to ever feel again. Surgery was not painful at all compared to this. They still do not know what it might be from and will not till I get the stone out and they can test it. Has anyone ever had a kidney stone or know anything about them. This was sooo horrible I will do whatever it takes to avoid it again. I was litterally crying in pain. I had no idea what was going on and it took them a while and a consult with my surgeon along with a cat scan to figure it out. They had an idea but because I am less than a month out they wanted to make sure. Any advice anyone has would be wonderful. Sorry if this post is a little scattered. They gave me vicodin so all is well in the world tonight Hugs, Melissa

Oh, yes, I had one about 12 years ago...it was just following a bout of pneumonia and I was told it was probably loosened up by all the citrus juices I'd been drinking. I woke up in the night screaming. I got someone to take me to the e.r. because I thought maybe my appendix had burst. If I were to get another, I would fuss at them to break it up so it would pass more quickly and easily. As it was, I had a car trip planned that I was determined to take. We had to stop constantly because I was sure I was going to pee myself; but, most of the time, I didn't have to go at all when I got there. And it never stopped hurting till it passed. When I did pass it, that didn't hurt at all and I couldn't get over how small it actually was. Good luck, Melissa. Lisa

I was suspected of having a kidney stone about 4 years ago. I woke with the most awful pain. I couldn't stand or walk I hurt so bad. They were even giving me iv pain meds in the er that barely dulled the pain. As it turned out, I had an allergic reaction to the new diabetes medication I was taking. The kidneys will let you know fast when they are not happy. Drink plenty of water to pass that stone. I hope you feel better very soon. Aime

Omgosh OW! You poor thing. Glad you found out what it was though. I have been totally paranoid about having something like that. From the day I got home I forced myself to have the 64 oz in water no matter how crappy I felt cuz I was scared to have a kidney stone problem. *Knock on wood* so far so good. As for the Vicodin. You lucky dog you *grin*. Every time I hear that word I think of a Bill Engvall skit. LMAOO "Vicodin Land" lmaooo Feel better soon! *hugs* Feicia

Oh My Gosh! Yes, I rather have 10 babies then pass another one of those horrible things. I have had 3 episodes (before surgery). No problems now though, but the thought of getting another one scares me to death. After the first one, you can tell when it is happening again, so you can get to the Doc for a shot of pain meds. Thats what my Doc did for me anyways.. Hope the pain is better. They told me to drink lots of water with lemon juice in it. That was beofre surgery, so I would check with the Doc first before you have real lemon Juice. Hang in there! Tiff

Tiff, I informed my hubby on the way to the ER that we were never having kids if it was anything like that. Once there they assured me that this was far worse then having a baby. Also with this there is NO reward at the end. Well maybe except for the pain meds I have heard from someone else to drink a glass of lemonade everyday as well to avoid them. She said even crystal light will work. So I can definetely do that one. I have been staying away from it as it is just too sweet for me but I am up for trying everything now. I feel a ton better now. Just a little tired still. It really seems to have taken a lot out of me. But it is strange that as fast as the pain came is seemed to go away. Well 6 hours later that is. Once I was at the ER they gave me morphine so that was great. I will know next time to just go straight there and not pass go. This last time I messed with going to the doc first and then he sent me to the ER. He wanted to make sure with my surgery so recent that that was all it was. I am going to keep sipping on the crystal light with all my might in hopes that I never hve to go through that again. Bless your heart for going through it three times. I think I would shoot myself LOL!! Thanks for the encouragement, Melissa

OK went to the doc today and he was not concerned at all. I found this tiny little stone is the "straining" they had me doing. It is no bigger than a grain of sand. I can not believe that much pain can come from something soooooooo small. Amazing! Thank you all so much for your support and kind words. Somehow it helps to know I am not the only one that has had this. I am sooooo sorry for those who have. I wish this not on my worst enemy. Thanks everyone!!!!!! Melissa
