I have been told that I need to drink drink drink...and I can't say I've been 100% compliant on it. I mean, I drink when I am thirsty...but I am finding I am hungry far more than I am thirsty. Is this normal?? Any suggestions? Also, I CAN NOT TOLERATE the centrum chewables...does anyone else have the same problem? What are you all taking in lieu of oral vitamins? I need something...anything but these orange flavored puke enhancers! Thanks Jen

I use the flintstone chewables and i stopped taking them. I was so nauseous each time and would gag them down. Not sure if it is the changes in my body but i can't tolerate much. I can't drink the protein shakes either. Trying desperately to get the protein in in the food. Can't wait till i can swallow a pill again so i can stop taking all this nasty chewable stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you find something that you like let me know. I"ll try it. Beth

Jen, I do take chewables from Costco and while they are very very sweet I like those better than swollowing them. I am not sure if you are tkaing them for ease or that you are not cleared to swollow things but I was cleared to take regular vitamins and swollow them. The DR put it like this....we can swollow the pain meds so we should be able to do the vitamins. BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DR! All DR's are different. I know what you mean by the sweet though. I have problems with stuff that is really sweet. I can not tolerate the shakes either. I am trying to find one that I can. For now I am drinking milk with sugar free choc syrup in it to boost the protein. That was the suggestion from my nut. Hang in there! Melissa

They say that if you drink when you are thirsty you are already dehydrated as that is your bodies way of telling you its getting into trouble and needs liquids now! As for the Centrum Chewables.. I don't like them either but I hack them down quick lol. Better then all the others I have found that you have to take 4 of a day. I don't think that children's chewables are the way to go either but thats my opinion. Something about taking a vitamin that was not designed for your age group just doesn't make sense to me. But if you just cant find one you like and you don't mind taking 4 a day I recommend Optisource Vitamins. You get them at Walgreen's. They are made for Bariatric patients. They are orange flavored also but NOTHING like the Centrum. They are pretty tasty but again you have to take 4 of them a day. I vote that no matter what you take something daily like it or not cuz you sure don't want the problems that will come with not taking them ok!! My 2 cents =) *hugs* Felicia

You are making a mistake if you are not getting in at least 64 oz of water daily. First of all, if you still have your gallbladder, get ready for kidney stones..that's right..with all the protein we are eating, you need to keep yourself FULLY hydrated in order to prevent this. Not only that, but you are absolutely right, dehydration is often mistaken for hunger. Just take sips all day long..pretty soon you will be addicted to it. I feel weird if I don't have some water with me at all times. As for multi vitamins, you can try the liquid type made by Tropical Oasis. It is sold at vitalady.com and I believe bariatriceating.com. Remember, we are in the honeymoon phase and the time is now to put into practice what will assist us to continue losing weight until we get to goal. Things WILL slow down..and lack of water will do the trick. Especially if and when you start to increase your activity level.
