Encouragement from 4+ months out
Hello Octobers!!
I feel like I'm intrudiing on your message board here, but I thought I'd come and visit and see how it is going for some of you because I remember my first month or two and the ups/downs that came with it.
Some of you may be approaching a "tired" stage. I recall feeling very tired and listless from about 4-8 weeks. After 8 weeks though, My energy picked up and now I'm running circles around my former self. I have lost 70 lbs since surgery and am now in a 14... crazy to think. I started at 262 in a size 22 and had a lap rny on July 19. I cannot wear any clothes in my closet - they've all been given away. I'm smaller than I was in high school. It's an amazing feeling to be approaching my goal! If you're feeling at all discouraged, remember that it does get better. Life will return to normal before long and the first couple of months are hard for some but it's just for a short period of time.
SO, even if you are having trouble now, just stick it out and get your vitamins/water/protein. It seemed to me that the first month or two took forever to get through and now it seems so long ago. SO, a little encouragement for all of you. I still need more sleep than I used to. I used to sleep 7-8 hours... now I am exhausted if I don't get a full 9 hours. That's from the fewer calories.
If you ever are wondering what to expect, somebody told me to visit one of the surgery boards for a couple months before my date. (i.e., I would visit the May or June board since I'm a July). Feel free to pop into July (my home) or August/Sept and ask questions there. Who better to ask than someone who's recently been there, huh? Keep up the great work!!
