Just getting tired at 6 weeks out

I have felt perfectly fine since I got home from the hospital, but am only now starting to feel really tired. It seems like I am sleeping much deeper than pre-op (not snoring as much, not waking up every time I turn over, oversleeping!) but have been horribly tired during the day. I have been pretty good about taking my vitamins, and pretty good about protein, though I find it much harder to count now that I am eating more varied meals, from restaurants and recipes). Has anyone else had this experience of lethargy this many weeks out? Peace.

Yes. I still find it hard to make it through the day. I don't feel like I have to retire fro the evening once I get home from work now, but I do need to rest for awhile. I don't stay up too late even after that nap. I did find some relief after I got my B12 shot. The result wasn't immediate. It took a few days before I noticed my stamina had improved some. From what I've read, getting enough fluids is vital. That seems to effect energy levels. This hasn't been easy for me as I never was one to drink any substance other then coffee consistantly. Hopefully we will find a solution. Aime

I am just about 8 weeks out and just now finally feeling more energy so I have the opposite situation as you but I know for me once I finally got a schedule down for getting in ALL my water, vitamins and protein that was when I started to feel better. When did you have your labs done last? Sounds like might be a good time to make an appointment to get them done and make sure your levels are ok. Hope you find out whats wrong. *hugs* Felicia Oh had to also say that I sleep like the dead since surgery. Used to be up all night long, every time I turned over I woke up, potty breaks etc and now I sleep great. BUT I can not GET to sleep. It takes me hours of tossing to finally drift off. For me I think I am just not getting enough exercise during the day but then again not sure. Best of luck!

Thanks for the reply. I have not had any labs...is that odd? I have had a 1 week and a 1 month appt, go back for a 3 month appt in Dec. I jsut figured it was too early for them to really be looking at anything, but it sounds like others have had them this early? Re: getting to sleep, I take 3 mg melatonin, because I have to go to bed earlier than my body wants to, and it works like a charm. Thanks again,

Seems like every time I see a doctor they want labs. I would check on that again. Aime

My surgeon doesn't "require" labs till I see him again in April of 2007 but he did recommend that I go in around 2-3 months. I will be going in January unless I start feeling out of wack. The local surgeons though have you going in ALOT! 2,6,8, and 3 months for lab work. So I think it just depends on the surgeon. But I do know that the only way to find out whats making you feel tired is a good old fashion run of your blood work panel. Thanks for the tip about the melatonin! *Hugs* Felicia

Every time i go in i have to get more lab work although i don't hear back about any results. No news is good news i guess. I too am just beginning to feel tired. I was surprised, up to this point, that i haven't been exhausted. My body is getting next to nothing to fuel it. Maybe it takes some time to catch up with us???? I yawned through my entire curves session today. People must have thought i was crazy. My surgery was 10/10

Hmm...I am definately going to have to ask about the lab work. I heard from somewhere that you can live on your protein stores for about a month, so this would be about the time where tired from low protein might hit. My tiredness lasted for 3 days, but I am feeling better now. Maybe just low on water? Or body adjustment. Who knows! Thanks much for your reply and I wish you the best! Lisa

Are you taking any iron supplements? That could be the culprit..maybe you need more. A lot of us start out pre op as anemic and so after we have surgery it is essential to get in our iron. As soon as they put me on iron supplements on my 1 month anniversary my energy level has increased tremendously. I sometimes feel sleepy in the afternoon, it depends..if I keep active, I feel great..if I am sitting around watching TV..well I want to lay down or something. Keep active , that might also help as well. I am due to have labs for my 3 month check up in Jan. Then again at 6 months..and then again at 1 year. Have not any labs since my pre op workup
