Hello everyone, just wanted to drop a few lines to say I am 4 weeks out and finally feeling like I am getting better, I gotta say that the past 4 weeks were hell. I still hurt wear my drainage incision is, but I am finally off all the pain meds. I feel like I am getting stronger every day. I still get scared adding new food, because of the pain I get sometimes when I do add new food. Any suggestions on how to get the protein I need on a budget. I have the vanilla powder and gotta tell everything I put it in is YUK. The last I checked I started at 296 and am now down to 245, so something is working. God Bless everyone and keep up the good work. Gwen

I use Body Fortress Whey protein from Wal Mart...around $13.00 for a large container..23g protein per 8 oz...and its very good...It taste like chocolate milk...It mixes well, and if you add a couple ice cubes and put it in a blender...It's like a chocolate malt...It also comes in vanilla or fruit punch...I haven't tried those...But Love the Chocolate... Gwen, so glad to see your post, and that things are improving! Unfortunately, I have no suggestions for the protein thing. Tastes are so individual. I have tried about 6 different brands before I found ones I liked. I have two right now that Im doing pretty good with. Unfortunately again, it cost a few bucks to keep trying until I found them. If you can, try buying samples, that way you arent spending a whole heck of alot trying them. Im presently using GNC brand 100% whey. Not to sweet, I had a hard time with sweet tasting ones. Can you imagine...ME...not going for sweet! Never thought it would happen in this lifetime! LOL On the good side, I have been out to eat several times with friends and family, and feel like I can order something, and feel normal. The down side....I paid 9.00 for a turkey sandwich and soup, that I only ate 3 bites of soup, and one slice of the turkey off the sandwich. or 5.99 for an omlette, that I only ate the equivalent of one egg. BUT.....it felt so damn "normal" that I wouldnt trade it for anything. I am getting more confident every day that this is going to save my life, and sanity. Keep up the good work, keep drinking...water water and more water. Even if you cant ea****er is important. You can live without food if your feeling bad, but you cant live withou****er. Take care, hope to see more and more posts! Your surgiversary buddy, Lauri
