I had my surgery on 10-26 and in the "puree" stage. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to what to eat? I have been eating pea soup, mashed potatoes and cottage cheese with powdered protein, and I am getting bored with it.

Here are a couple suggestions. We did not have a pureed stage but these are some that I have read on here. Make sure and check with your Dr. if you have ?'s about any of these always! I have to gice credit to DX on the mens board for these. These are what he suggested to my hubby: Here are some other "Meals" At the Mushy/Pureed Stage- :Cream of Wheat with a teaspoon of protein powder mixed in. :Super Soft "Cheese Grits" (cook in skim milk and add cheese) ..........(those "Butter Buds®" sprinkles are great early on) :Really Mushy Oatmeal. Splenda and even a touch of cinnamon and rocks ..........(Vanilla protein Powder in this is good too) :Refried Beans with a spoon of enchilada sauce and cheese on top. ..........(or just buy a small order at Taco Bell! Loved those) :Yogurt (CarbControl or SF or Lite,) (We do the dannon light and fit and take out any chunks) ..........( jus****ch out for more than 4gs of sugar) :Campbells Bean w/Bacon soup, ..........(run through the Blender. -food of the gods) :Tomato Soup with Cheese and/or some protein powder ..........(try with spices for variety- Basil/Italian flavors, Curry Powder, etc) :Cream of Mushroom Soup, Cream of Chicken Soup ..........(be sure to chew those mushroom/chicken bits) :Instant Mashed Potatoes with Fat Free or Low Fat Cream Cheese ..........(Also good to make with Chicken or Ham Bullion instead of water) :Scrambled Eggs with Cheese (My "Go To" Favorite) ..........(can top with spoon of Non-Chunky or blended Spaghetti Sauce, ..........Chili, Cheese sauce, every type of cheese that will melt, etc) :SF Puddings! The Jell-O Cheescake SF Pudding -w/ cream cheese blended in Rocks! ..........(A little SF strawberry Jam, thinned with juice and spooned on top is great) :Egg Salad- Boiled egg mashed with pickle or olive juice, pepper and Mayo Things that I had success with running through the Food processor/blender- :Canned Carrots, ..........(Added Splenda Brown Sugar, Butter Buds® & cinnamon like Sweet Potatoes) :Deli Sliced Chicken, mayo and pickle relish with a spoon of Cream Cheese ..........(Like a Chicken salad Spread) :Chili! With or without beans, then melt cheese over in the Micro wave I hope this helps. This guy has a lot of great ideas but I only know of them because of my hubby on the mens board. Enjoy, Melissa

I am on the soft mushy food stage too. Here is a list of what I eat: * tuna mashed with chickpeas and a little ranch dressing * ricotta cheese with jello powder mixed in * scrambled tofu (made just like scrambled eggs but with a lot of seasoning) * Taco Bell pintos & cheese * seafood such as scallops, shrimp, tilapia * high fiber protein "pudding" - I created this by mistake, but it was a good mistake. I put 2 tablespoons of Benefiber in my protein shake and mixed in my blender and it came with a pudding-like consistency * hummus - it's good eaten with a little spoon * olives - when I need something salty * Dannon Lite & Fit yogurt & smoothies * soft and low fat cheeses * cottage cheese * boiled peanut butter - I boil dry roasted peanuts, drain off most of the water, add salt, then blend. Boiling gets rid of a lot of the fat * cooked mushrooms * cream of broccoli soup * cream of mushroom soup * crab salad * blackbeans * meatless chili I have been on the mushy food stage and I haven't gotten bored yet. I get to try more solid food in two weeks. Elizabeth

Lots of great ideas here. I've struggled with this too. My surgery was 10/23! I did go purchase a few jars of stage 1 & 2 baby foods. Those help whenever I run out of ideas or I just need to fix something quick! Not very imaginative but the nutritional information is all right there..and I dont' have to guess at how much I'm getting. However, that said, I do eat fat free refried beans with salsa. You can find store bought salsa that doesn't have sugar in it. I haven't felt like making any of my own salsa and besides, the family would eat it all before I got any hahahahaha. Goodluck!

Love these ideas!! I wish my group allowed beans I have a few to add.... ***FF Ricotta and low fat mozzerella with pasta sauce...like a calzone. This works well too if you go out to eat....order a calzone and scoop out the insides! ***FF Ricotta cheese w/ splenda, cinnamon and a tiny bit of almond flavoring...can also mix in unflavored protein powder for a protein boost! if I think of more I'll add em!!!

I've blended cottage cheese on its own and also with crushed pineapple. Blended chicken with tomato sauce. Chicken with low fat mayo, dijon mustard, and dry tarragon. Ditto for turkey. Turkey with fat free gravy and mashed potatoes. I have canned fruits to puree and a couple baby food fruits. I think I will heat the canned pears after I puree, and add cinnamon. Had my first oatmeal today, cooked in skim milk, with splenda - it sat pretty heavily though. Frozen blueberries and cherries to add to puddings and yogurts.

I tried regular oatmeal with peanut butter and that was yummy. I also ate a little bit of no-sugar added, low fat frozen yogurt, Blue Bunny low carb yogurt, plain peanut butter, sf, non-fat pudding, ricotta cheese with vanilla, shredded bbq beef. As for pureed, I tried to stay away from it, but chili worked good.
