Scars & treatment.....

Hi ya'll, Up until last week I wasn't thinking about scars or stretch marks and what to do with them to minimize them until my neighbor brought it up. So she suggested that I go to Wal-Mart and pick up some stretch mark lotion. I did go to Wal-Mart's lotion area and found 3-4 different lotions for stretch marks. So I bought two different ones. (1) Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula for Stretch Marks - for general large areas. I've been putting it on after showers. And the second one is an expensive one called Mederma. The Mederma I've been putting it on twice a day on my Lap scares and my belly. After 5 days of use I'm already noticing a difference as far as the soon to be scars are much lighter in color already. Is anyone else doing something similar? Cusi

I have not done anything about mine as they are not yet healed but I am very glad to know what is working for you. That will help a lot when mine are healed. At this point they look like they are so not going to be pretty at all. He is a great surgeon but a plastic surgeon he is NOT! Thanks, Melissa

My lap rny was 10/17 and some of my incisions still are not healed. And most of them have stitches surfacing at the top ready to come off with the scabs. I will check that Maderma stuff out for when they are healed though.

Well, NOW I'm thinking about them...lol Guess I'll hit Walmart soon and take your advice. I'm going to be having gall bladder surgery in January and will have more scars unless he uses the same ones. Don't know what good it will do me being that I'm 53 and the skin is old..lol

I had my RNY OPEN...I have a 5" long vertical scar on my abdomen. It is healed well in that it is completely closed. Pretty it is not though. I have been using lotion on it but think I'll try the mederma too!! Thanx!
