i don't know if i ate too much... or too fast... or the wrong thing, but i feel terrible and it won't go away. last night for dinner i had steamed talapia (i've had fish several times already), some green beans (first time), 2 steamed shrimp (had that several times before also), and a few forkfulls of finely chopped lettuce with a dab of dressing and a chopped red beet (first time). i stopped eating when i felt full, but after about an hour i started to feel extremely full, stuffed as a matter of fact... it still feels like it is all right in the center of my gut and won't move. i did get nauseated for about 10 minutes last night, but did not throw up. this morning i ate about a third of a cup of cream of wheat... and i think that just got stuck on the rest of the lump that is still there. ugh, i don't feel good at all. any suggestions?

Patricia, I don't know if you are on the same eating program as I am, but there are some things that you are eating that I can't have just yet. For example, green beans. I am to be at 6 weeks before I can have any veggies. Lettuce and red beets with dressing, I can't have raw veggies for 6 months. Cream of wheat, I can' have any whole wheat products for 6 weeks. If your program is similar to mine, it may be that you are trying foods too early. It takes a lot for raw veggies to digest in our system, so that may explain why you still have the full feeling still. I would have just some clear liquids for a day then so back to just soft proteins. Don't feel bad though, I can't even tolerate the soft proteins. I get sick at everything I try to eat. I am sooo tempted to eat things that I am not suppose to have yet. I hope this helps. If not, I would call my doc or dietician to get some advice. Good luck to you and hope that you feel better soon. Let me know how you are, okay. Hugs, Sherry

Patricia, I am sorry you feel so bad. I would say that you did too many 1st's at a time. At that stage you definetely need to take one new thing at a time. And also the choppede lettuce was probably really tough on your new little pouch. My hubby is 5 months out and he is just now starting to be able to really handle lettuce at all. No matter how small. Green beans were on the list from my surgeon of things to try after about 3 months or so. It is hard to say what did it since you had a few 1st's. For me cream of wheat is on my list starting 7 days out so I am not sure that should have been any problem. I am 6 days out and had some matza ball soup today with my hubby and ate some very very mushed up matza....mind you not even a tsp.....and that seems fine. I would try some warm liquids for the rest of the day and keep it pretty soft tomorrow if not purreed. The fact that you have not thrown up might be a good sign. My hubby had that feeling a few times and it just seemed to be that it was to early for whatever it was he ate even though the doc said it was ok. The doc is not the one in charge of what we eat anymore our new little pouch is. Keep your head up and maybe try walking. I know that helps alot to get things moving around and work them through. Warm liquids do wonders! best of luck, Melissa

Hi Patricia, Please go back to see what the doctor has allowed you to eat at this time. Every doctor is different but there are just certain things that are no-no's. If you dont' have a good list of items from your doctor, which is SHOULD have given you, Order "WLS for Dummies". It has lots of ideas as far as what you should be eating at this stage (which most likely should be pureed foods - no raw veggis - the consistancy of mashed potatoes) or something like that. And avoid Shrimp. Shrimp is TOO rubbery of a texture that is hard to digest. Take Care, Cusi

I have a question about shrimp, I have been eating it and have had no problems so far, and I hadn't heard you should avoid shrimp??? Now I am questioning if I should eat anymore of it??? Did your dr tell you not to eat shrimp??? Thanks for your info!!

I ate tilapia once....ONCE, and it was one of the 3 times my food came back up. So, for me, no more tilapia... however, I eat shrimp and have no problem, just make sure you chew it up very well. I have not heard we should not eat shrimp has anyone else? It was on my protein list. I guess all NUT's are different. ME + FISH = NO GO!!! sorry!

all of the foods that i ate that night were on my list from my doctor. the only thing that said it may be hard to tolerate right away, was the lettuce, which is why i chopped it so fine and chewed it so well. i have had no problems with shrimp either. and i just ate talapia again and i seem ok. i think it was probably that the beans weren't as soft as they should have been, or maybe the lettuce. either way, i won't be eating beans or lettuce for a while. i feel ok now. just a little stomach "slight weird feeling" any time i eat or drink. i think i just have to get used to my new pouch. thanks for all of the advice and concern, but please know that i wouldn't do anything against my surgeon's orders. i'm too much of a chicken. best regards, patricia

I am so glad that you are feeling better. I am terrified to go to stage 3 which is supposed to be tomorrow. My hubby had to do the same thing. Try things and if it did not work give it a month or so and try again. I wish you the best! Melissa

My nutritionist said I could have shrimp. I haven't had any trouble with it....just go slow and chew, chew, chew.
