pureed foods...
would anyone like to comment on what a typical day or two on pureed foods is like for them. what they eat and when. i'm curious about what everyone else is doing and could use some help with suggestions.
i don't feel like i am losing vry much. i have only lost 10 pounds since surgery on the 18th. i did spend 4 days in the hospital on iv fluids and nothing by mouth during my second week, and i'm sure that has something to do with it, but i am getting discouraged.
thanks,
patricia
Don't get discouraged, I'm sure you'll start losing soon a good friend of mine who had her SX 4 years ago lost 12 pounds in 4 weeks at the beginning , she was also getting frustrated, but after that she started dropping sooo fast, she is now a size 7 and feeling great, so keep your chin up I'm sure it's just your body adjusting to the changes Also on the pureed foods, have u tried Cream of Wheat, Mashed potatoes, I found that the fruit baby food is really good wish there was more I could say but I'm kinda in the same boat
Try not to get too discouaged. I had surg on 10/23 & recently just started pureed on 11/3-after my tube was removed. In the morning I have 1/2 pk of plain instant cream of wheat w/a little splenda cinnamon & dab of unsweetened applesauce. Lunch I usually eat string cheese (very slowly) Poly-O reduced fat Mozzarella. It has 8 grms of protein. I also eat white tuna packed water, drain & mix w/low fat mayo. OR I eat
lowfat cottage cheese blended w/plain lowfat vanilla yougert a little splenda & lemon or vanilla flavoring. Tonight I tried a scrambled egg cooked w/pam. So far I've been keeping everything down. I also drink Special K 2-O Protein Water ( 5 gm protein)
The water may not be such a good idea. It has 8 grams of sugar & 50 calories. I did
not know that until I drank it but I did'nt have a problem with it. I also have been able to tolerate Jello- sugar free vanilla pudding. Hope this helps. Celeste
OK so I am dying to know whne you started the egg drop soup. That would be sooooooo yummy about right now. I just went to the grocery store and bought all this stuff (well he had rny in june so all is very little these days) for him to eat that I can not and I would love something other than creamed soup and yogurt. That sounds so good!
I can not wait till the doc says pintos and cheese are ok....which if I am lucky should be tomorrow!! YAY!!!!!
Thanks,
Melissa
A typical day for me is:
Breakfast - a ISOPURE protein shake - 50grams of protein
Water between meals
Lunch is 2 tsp protein (cottage cheese, Taco Bell pintos & cheese, tuna or chicken salad (puree in the blender) or poached egg whites. 1 whole wheat cracker and 2 tsp either of a pureed veggie or fruit.
Lots of water
Dinner - similar to lunch
I have found that the protein shake makes a huge difference for me in the morning. I does take me about 2 hours to drink a 16oz shake because it fills me up.
Don't be discourage you follow your doctor's orders and recommendations and you will be fine.
Patricia,
I am 16 days post op. I have Gastric Bypass/Laprascopically.
Went to Dr today for my first Post Op appt. I have lost 21 pounds.
I bought this cook book (Eating Healthy after Weight Loss Surgery - I think this is the name of it). It has good receipes in it for those of us on pureed food. It lists the stages and how much to eat. Last night I had scallops and the night before I had Beef Strognaff. YUMMY. I have had tuna fish, crab (in those little packets near the tuna fish), cheese, bannana, mashed potatoes. I drink the chocolate drink (tastes like a chocolate shake) from Smartforme - 15 grams protein each. I have had cottage cheese and a scramble egg.
Hopes this helps.
