Pain on left side
I started exercising about right when I came home from the hospital. Not sprinting or anything like that but walking at a pretty fast pace (maybe 1.5-2 on the treadmill). Since then I have been walking daily on the treadmill actually 2 times a day for at least 1 mile each time and at the speed of 3 to 3.2. I know that everyone heals differently with things. I was in very little pain when I came home but I tried to walk at least 20-30 minutes a day like my dr's office recommends. I had surgery on Oct 2nd.

I only had surgery on the 30th but I do know that from the classes and groups that I went to about amonth out the lower left side does tend to start to hurt more. From what they said it is the stitch pain since now you are up and doing more than you have before. My husband had it is June of 06 and he had some pain then as well. I kknow we worried about what might be wrong but the doc said to continue slowely and watch the pain. It should get better. If it did not then we were to call them. It did get better. He was allowed to start to exercise on a moderate basis after 2 weeks. I would suggest just give your surgeons office a quick call to see what they say. We paid them enough for the advice. Keep us updated. I am curious how things go for you as I will be there in a few weeks. My hardest thing now is just trying to drink enough and I am still dreding getting the protein shake down. Best of luck. Melissa
Thanks for your reply. Try Champion's Chocolate. I have to drink my shakes out of a coffe mug with a lid. The smell is terrible. Champions Chocolate is the only one I can get down with getting sick and having dry heaves. You can get samples from Vitalady. I tried so many different flavors and did cocoa mochachino from Champions until I traded someone for Chocolate and now that is the only one I drink.
Best of luck.

I would say to slow down on your speed and just try walking for 20 to 30 minutes. Don't push yourself. Actually, my doctor told us to walk around our neighborhood and not use the treadmill for 6 weeks. Remember you just had MAJOR surgery, even though you feel great, your insides are still healing. My left side KILLED me, because of that horrid drain, and I still feel a lil cramp now and then. Just take it slow, after 4 to 5 weeks you are going to feel way different than you do now. Believe me, each day I feel more back to "normal"..and ease into your walking. Believe me, you are loosing weight and I know you want to really get fit, but you need to give your insides a chance to heal fully before pushing yourself. I am not sure, but maybe the treadmill is too hard on your system, where walking is more natural, not as bumpy? I dont know, just throwing that out there!1 congrats on your surgery and your willingness to get right with it on your excercise!! Let us know how you are doing!
