1 Mo Post Op Appt
Had my 1 mo post op appt on Monday and have now graduated to soft foods. I am so glad to be on the next stage.
I lost almost 30 lbs at my one week appt then hit a stall for about two weeks and lost another 2 lbs in week three. I've already lost another two pounds so my stall is over.
How is everyone else doing?
If you have any soft food suggestions please share.
Hi Football Mom,
I am one month out too. I started soft, mushy foods last week. I am enjoying tuna, shrimp, scallops, cottage cheese, other soft cheeses, hummus, and beans. I can also eat eggs but I don't like them very much. One thing I found as a treat is ricotta cheese with a little jello powder or splenda mixed in it. I still have at least 2 protein drinks each day.

Elizabeth,
Thanks for responding to my post. The soft food stage has been going pretty good. I had mashed potatoes yesterday for the first time and they were yummy. I dont care for cottage cheese or ricotta cheese but wish I could eat them because I keep hearing how much everyone loves. I had egg salad and that didn't sit very well so I wont try that for a while.
Good luck.

Elizabeth,
are you eating hummus with a spoon? I just wondered, I love it with crackers..Shrimp is really good. How are you cooking your scallops? I am about the same as you, my surgery was oct 3. I bought som eo fht laughing cow cheese, very good. Are you eating 3 times a day or didyour doc tell you to eat snacks too? I get so confused..
Kimberlee sometimes I eat hummus with my pinky Seriously, yes I eat a little bit with a spoon or fork. I was told I could eat scallops but haven't had scallops yet because I haven't made it to PF Changs yet. They have 2 really good scallop dishes that I love. As for cheese I can only eat soft or semi-soft types. I tried a little bite of cheddar and it didn't feel good. Same with swiss. The only way I can eat the harder cheeses is if I melt them then drain the oil off. I am allowed to have planned snacks. I guess I eat about 4 or 5 times a day including protein drinks. I am not sure how many calories I am supposed to be eating but according to fitday.com I am averaging about 550 a day. I posted the question to another RNY group and someone said their doctor had them eat 1000 calories at 4 weeks out. When I read that my pouch cringed and said "don't even think about it!"
This what my eating schedule is like during the work week:
6:30 - 7 am Water & vitamins
8 - 8:30 1 Profect vial and fluids (water, tea, decaf coffee)
9 am - 9:30 maybe I will have a scrambled egg, Dannon Lite & fit yogurt, or some cottage cheese - I don't always eat at this time.
12 - 1:30 Lunch - lately it has been tuna, chickpeas and a little ranch dressing all mashed together. Sometimes I add a little tofu and olives to the mix. Sometimes I have soup. After about 40 minutes I start fluids again
4 - 5 pm Snack time Either left over lunch, lite & fit yogurt, or Profect if I feel like it or before exercise
5:30 Fluids
7 - 8 pm Dinner Shrimp, stir fried tofu, soup, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese with jello powder (next time I think I will try this with Nectar Crystal Sky protein powder), veggie sausage, or mashed beans with a little cheese. Fluids 40 minutes later.
Bedtime 1 Profect vial if I am short on Protein or my blood glucose is to low to go to sleep.
I take my vitamins at 4 intervals each day, usually while I am drinking. I get full from my vitamins.

Elizabeth, (my first name too!, thus Izzy)
That is so funny about PF Changs, I told my daughter I wanted to go there on her birthday so I could eat the scallops. We went there after homecoming shopping and I had the sweet and sour soup and a about 2 bites of brown rice, was that good! I cant wait for the scallops!!! HTanks for your infor, I love to see how others are eating, sounds like your DR has your snacking small meals, mine only wants us to eat 3 times a day, no snacking..geez you get so many conflicting instructions, I am just listening to my own body!! If I get really hungry, I eat..my vitamins fill me up too!
