confused about what to eat???????

My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, October 31st. I was told to eat light this weekend with only liquids on Monday and Monday night I have to take that stuff to clean me out. Is this normal? I hear other people talking about liquids only for a few days. Kimberlyj100

Hi Kim! Every doctor is different but yes its normal. My surgery is Wednesday & I was supposed to start my liquid diet yesterday-I did well until last night when I slipped & ate a pb & j snadwich-but today I am doing it again. My dr told me the liquid diet shrinks your liver so it isnt as hard to get around during surgery. I also have to take a mild laxative the day before. Good luck to you!!! Tuesday is coming up quick!

I was on liquids for 12 days before surgery. It helps shrink your liver so surgery is easier. Each dr is different so just follow your dr's advice!!!! Good luck!! Hugs Judy

I was told not to eat anythis after 12:00 non the day prior to surgery and clear liquids from noon to midnight and NOTHING after midnight. I didn't have to take anything to clean me out. I had my surgery on Tues 10/24 Joanie
