I came home from the hospital yesterday. Yesterday and today I've been feeling a bit sad and regretful. Is this normal? Will it go away? I am feeling right now that I've made a huge mistake. Please tell me I haven't made a mistake. Please tell me I'll get through this....

THIS IS NORMAL FEELINGS AFTER SURGERY....HANG IN THERE BETTER DAYS ARE COMING FOR YOU!!! I HAD MY WLS ON THE 17TH AND I ALREADY NOTICED MY LOWER LEGS, ANKLES AND FEET ARE NOT SWOLLEN ANYMORE!!! I CAN GET MY RINGS ON AND THEY ARE NOT TIGHT NOW!!! I WILL BE GOING IN TO SEE THE DR ON MONDAY TO GET MY FIRST WEIGH IN SINCE SURGERY. I HAVE A GOOD FEELING THAT I HAVE LOST SOME WEIGHT!!!! I KNOW ITS HARD AT FIRST WHEN FRESH OUT OF SURGERY TO GET ALL THE LIQUIDS IN EVERYDAY...IT DOES GO IN MORE EACH DAY TOO....SO HANG ON ITS GOING TO BE OK!!!! JUST FOLLOW DR'S ORDERS AND DON'T RUSH INTO THINGS THAT ARE OFF LIMITS RIGHT NOW. HUGS JUDY

This is totally normal. I felt that way on Wed and Thurs after I had surgery. Ever since I have not had those feelings anymore. Hang in there you are getting there and remember you are just a short time out of surgery so these emotions are normal. Hugs~ Deanne

I had surgery the same day you did. It's funny that you bring this up cause I've been looking at WLSs for over 2 years and I wasn't going to go into this without everyone in my family (husband & kids) agreeing to this. I guess I went into this looking at the big picture and it's goal (to be more healthly) knowing that it wasn't going to be easy especially the first few months. But like you, right after the surgery and once I was 1/2 coherent I started to dought/ regret/ was it a mistake what I had done. That feeling did start going away as I was feeling better. I think what you need to focus on is the goal. Think of this as a dog race where the dogs look at the little rabbit from the moment they go thru the start gate and they are so focused on that darn rabbit that they're doing what they're supposed to be doing (staying on track) and finally reach the goal line and then getting a treat. During the race the dog goes thru dirt and challenges of staying focused on that rabbit but something (other dog) gets in front of him and still doesn't lose focus. The difference in our race is that the further we go in our race the more energy and strength we will gain and of course we'll be losers. Take care and keep a possitive attitude... Cusi

Cusi- Actually today has been so much better. The head hunger hasn't been too bad or anything today. Better attitude, better day etc. I am so glad I was able to get it off my chest what I was thinking. Hearing I wasn't nuts, and being encouraged by everyone really helped a lot.

I had my surgery the same day as you and for about 2 or 3 days, I was thinking the same thing...what did I get myself into:-S? Is it worth it:angst:? Will the results be everything they are in my mind:idea:? I'm glad you posted, I feel like you are experiencing something completely normal...hang in there! I just want to get out of this 3 week long :-@liquid diet. Once that's over, I think I'll be in a better mood!
