Good lord. I almost can't believe that I went through all that I've been through for THIS! I had my RNY on Thursday. Just got home today. Thursday and Friday I was in so much PAIN!!!!!! I told my doctor that I felt like I had been stabbed. He couldn't tell I was joking at first, and said "that's sorta what just happened". Yea, I know! It hurt like the dickins. I'm not saying that it's not going to be worth it, and that I'm not ging to be FINE. I'm just saying that I couldn't wait to get home to post so that you guys would be prepared. I had Morphine and Tordol every couple of hours. The incisions still were unbearable. I had to walk to get rid of the gas pains. NO AMOUNT OF PAIN MEDS WILL GET RID OF PAIN IF IT IS FROM GAS. You must walk it off, so to speak. Good luck to those who come after me this month. And remember to walk.

Hi Monika, I had my Surgery on Wed and I will say the worst pain was the Gas. It really was almost unbarable at times. I am feeling much better now. The only thing you can do is wait for it to pass. no pun intended. Other than that I am feeling pretty good. Better than I expected to feel. Hang in there everyone it is only a temporary thing. It will be worth it.

Judy, The gas pain is tough but walking is the only answer. Don't wait for the nurses to get you up and ask you if you want to walk , if you can just get up and do it, even in the middle of the night, walk walk walk. The nurses must have thought I was a lunatic because i was walking those hallways at all hours of the night. If I couldn't sleep I was walking. And lets face it, NO one sleeps in a hospital...lol And your hair....let me tell you, my hair is pretty long almost to the bottom of my back and after 2 days is a hosp. bed it was up to my shoulders. My daughter came on the 3rd day and it took her 45 minutes to bru**** out. Anyway, I wish you great luck on your surgery and recovery, post us when you get home so we know your ok. Bye-M

ok sry but i have to respond to the hair thing...lmao when i first got up i had a male nurse and i ask how my hair was cause i didnt wanna be walken around with messy hair.. he said hey your hair looks fine ya just need to worry about keepen your butt covered... bt anyhow after my 2nd time walken i was feelen like my hair was wild so i made them let me pit stop to the bathroom to see the hair and OMG what a birds nest... mine is to my mid back and when i looked you would have thought i had short short hair cause it was sooo matted up i couldnt even get a comb through it so i had my neice stretch and pull and shove it into a pony tail holder and my 2nd day home i got a shower and it took about half bottle of conditioner to get it un knotted... what a mess...i just had to share i thought it was funny untill it was time to comb it out..lol

I had some pain right out of surgery. I just hit the morphine botton and I was out. I woke up about 5 hours later and felt pretty good. Yes there was alittle achyness, but nothing that the pain killers could get rid of. By 11:00pm I was off the pain medicine and walking every couple of hours. To me the pain wasn't bad at all. I thought it was going to be alot worse.

You must be a soldier! I can't imagine. I felt like Morphine did nothing for me. I had to have the Tordol. You were off all pain meds by 11! Hats off to you girl!
