I am about to starve to death!!!! LOL Does it get any easier? I am feeling a little anxiety to kind of worying about the chance of death. Although I know deep down that I will be fine I am in the Lords Hands and he will keep me safe I still get the fear every now and then. Is anyone else feeling this way? Thanks Shelly

Yep, I'm pretty scared too. I have my surgery on Oct. 23rd, and start the liquid diet about 5 days before. Just hang in there and remember why you are doing this. I try to tell myself that I know I'll be hungry on the liquid diet, but it will probably make me feel a lot better after surgery, since there won't be any "food junk" left in my body when it is done. God bless you! Staci

Thank you for your reply. I feel better today. Good luck to you on the 23rd I will pray for you. I will also post to you and tell you how I am doing when I get done and come home. I couldn't imagine doing 2 weeks of full liquid, I am only required to do 7days. Well Good luck! Thanks Shelly

I am on day 2 of my liquid fast. Yes, today was harder than yesterday, but I think that by day 3 or 4 it will be somewhat easier. I got my free sample of Hanks protien, had one for super, and boy was that good, the best tasting one I have had so far, really tastes like a chocolate malt, which I just love. I want to order some but everybody says that your taste change after surgery and it is a bit pricy, but if I can tolerate sweet thick stuff after surgery I will order it, it is worth the cost. Good luck on the 17th, I am right behind you, on the 25th! Ann

Hi Shelly I am starving too...I am on day 2 of optifast and getting headaches...actually I just went and ate a small can of tuna I was feeling light headed and sick in the stomach. I don't think this will hurt the diet cos it is only protein. I haven't had a chance to get too nervous cos we have a new puppy keeping me very busy. Good luck to you and to everyone having surgery in October. Regards Kelly

Shelly, Hang in there. I started my pre-op liquid diet on Oct.4 - so I am 10 days in and I'm still alive. The hardest is watching others eat or watching a commercial on TV with some good food on it. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 18. I have had two episodes where my bowels just got in an uproar, and it was painful. It would seem to me they wouldn't have anything to get upset about. It does get easier. I don't think about it. I drink 3 Slim Fast Optima Meals a day and eat a lot of sugar free jello and then, just to up my protein, I drink some foritied milk: 1 cup skim milk - 8g protein 1/3 cup powdered milk - 8g protein 1 pkg. Carnation Instant Breakfast, sugarfree - 4g protein That adds 20g. protein. I would guess I'm getting about 600 calories per day. I also fix a cup of bouillon for dinner. Good Luck to you. Debra

It must be normal cause I feel the same way Shelly, but every time I get that way it prompts me to pray for the Lord to guide my surgeons hands. Then I thank the Lord that he had me born in a time where I could have this done, the same as I thanked him for all three c-sections with my children! As to the liquid diet...after three to four days it gets a little better but it is never pleasent! My surgery date is 10/17 so I've only got a short time left! Yippy! What helped me most was hot broths, not salty boulion cubes but swansons chicken broth and powdered ajus. I also used sugar free gum to satisfy the need to chew something! It has been great to loose two pounds a day (not kidding) since I started it, and remember that loosing before surgery makes the going easyer for the surgeon and less stress on your body too! Believe me I know these benefits I'm a nurse. May God give you strength sister, Cathy

Hi Shelly...I am also scheduled for the 17th!! Have you tried eating SF Popsicles? Or SF Jello?? Also drinking alot of water helps you stay full. If you are having the need to crunch something, try the SF Popsicles. No I am not scared at all.....I worked hard to have this surgery and its what I want so what is there to be afraid of? If you have a good dr and trust in him there is no need to be afraid. Think positive and you will feel better and get through this much easier!!! Good luck!!! Hugs Judy
